    AF Army - 2nd September 2008

Off to bed soon, day 2 done and dusted!
Interesting evening with my mum, she was round helping me with kids and opened up about admitting to herself she was an alchoholic just 2 days ago and is doing something about it. I think she found it hard telling me as I am her daughter but I think well we are all human eh? I'm proud of her and in a way its a relief to know she has turned a corner.
Not looking forward to tomorrow as I usually cave in by day 3...take care all!

Take My yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yolk is easy and My burden is light

So glad you are feeling better OneTwo! and vlads, that uniform looks SNAPPY on you! How about a little rifle??

          Good going, everyone!

I am just back from the psych hospital, Mother looks good, dressed and sitting up in a regular chair. But she thinks she's in a motel, and that she is going to "get up a bridge game" this evening. If you were to have a look at the other patients she is in there with, you would see that a bridge game is really, really not going to happen (of all the patients my mother is one of the most cognitively intact). She asked me to come back by this evening, and to "bring the Scotch," so we can have a drink before dinner. I said OK... Sad to say, she will of course not remember that "promise." But she is walking a little, and I am thinking I might be able to get her home in her own house by late this week... We'll see.

Off to work in a little bit, evening stuff to do at the Free Health Clinic.

          Hoping everyone is doing well!

You are so freakin' funny, vlad. I don't know what I would do without the funny little stuff we engage in here- I may not be so funny myself but you guys crack me up most of the time! And, by the way, your staircase looks devine!!! k

Hi All, I am so glad you all seem to be feeling a bit better.

O2M weren't you going to see the councilor tonight? I probably got the day wrong.

Vlad glad you are taking your mind of Al by trying on some new outfits Lovely staircase too BTW!

Thanks so much Cindy, Starting, Kriger and WIP for the advice- it is very helpful to hear from people who have more time under their belt.

Thank you Chief, that was a great post.

Difficult day for me- my friend in hospital is stable, they drained 5 litres of fluid directly from his liver but he seemed comfortable and in good spirits.

The mum of my other friend will be cremated tomorrow, none of the family will be at the crematorium (or anybody else come to that) - I find that sad that she will be making that last journey completely alone. All the family were in a bar today apparently getting absolutely hammered. It is a very obvious show of how we drinkers cannot cope with our feelings- the lady who has died also has 2 sons who have flown over from the UK- I guess they are likely to be alcoholic too.

On my way home I saw a little kitten in the road that had just been run over. I got out and picked her up but she died a few minutes later. I can't face burying her tonight but will do it first thing tomorrow- all in all a difficult day

But not drinking makes things much easier- under normal circumstances I would be completely drunk by now ("Of course how can I cope with this without a drink- it's normal") waking up in the morning still drunk or hungover and having to continue to drink completely depressed and worried what I might have said.
As it is my BF has just lined us up 2 hours of comedy which will cheer me up, and tomorrow is a new day.

Hang on in there all :h

                            Hello everyone

Glad to hear all us newbies are doing well with the AF, Vlad what the heck are you doing looking at vodka on the internet???

O2M - hope you tummy feels better, it probably isn't used to all that food. I know my tum isn't used to having food in it, so I make myself eat a small amount at a time but eat about 8 times a day when I can. I've lost my beer belly now so look even skinnier.

Had a great day at the track and even managed to get 2nd place in one race, the other fellow ran 5th, but ran the best he has ever run in ages. AF has definately done the dogs some good too. Went to the liquor store to try and find some AF beer (not too common in NZ, usually everyone is trying to find the beer with the most alcohol in it) but couldn't find any so I brought some apple and pomegranate fruit syrup instead. It's really good.

WIP - it's good to hear your mum is a bit better

                            Zep
It's time I put my big girl pants on. :grannypants: I hope they fit.
