I think the whole MWO site would make great TV. Can you imagine cameras following us through our daily lives, filming us reading and posting.... watching us as we jump up to make beds, clean, feed the dog, split some wood, etc then straight back on the computer?

There would be a cast of thousands and a few main characters - I mean, one main character (sorry, your highness).

It could be the one off, fly on the wall reality TV show of the century.

Right.... better run..... got something to patent.....

I think you nailed it. Your lives are far more entertaining than mine and I continue to fucking get drawn into the life of all others instead of improving mine. But back to the chilis. I do not eat anything with a face so will leave the sweet little pig out of it.

All the words related to growing, preparing and cooking are Greek to me. I am already lost. "Tell the farmer to roast it for you" ??? What farmer...where??

I am with the Sheep. When it is ready and done slap a lable on that puppy and ship it to me.
Sometimes I wonder...."Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me.

Oh, I'm in heaven!!! Love cooking, canning, new recipes! I just picked all my figs to take with me to the cabin where I'm going to make strawberry-fig preserves. Tastes just like wild strawberry jam. Daddy planted my fig tree for me many years ago, so the fruit is all the sweeter. Nothing better on a cold morning than hot buttered biscuits (southern style) and homemade straw-fig or blackberry jam. When I get home have to make a new batch of my vinegar-style BBQ sauce, then chow-chow. Muscadines are getting ripe here now, so need to make some jelly. Used to make wine, but, oh well, don't need that temptation!

                    Lucky,

You can make delicious green chili without the meat. I have done so.

Although I have never done the roasted chilis things. I am a can cook. :H

                    Love,

Oh, I have done the anaheim chili things for tamales. My daughter and I try to make fresh tamales for Christmas. It is also a several day operation.

It is also a great thing to do together as a family. The kids absolutely love rolling the tamales in the corn husks.

It is fun to put some natural food dye on the husks (red and green) so the tamales look festives when you serve them.

Lucky, I haven't thought of how to make vegetarian tamales, but if we put our heads together, I bet we could come up with something delicious. Not healthy, though, the masa is high carb all by itself.

Okay, no more hijacking this thread. I am waiting for the rest of the recipe. We love green chili here, too.

                      Love,
                      Cindi

Ruby, GIVE ME YOUR RECIPE!!! I cannot ABIDE the sweet, thick, ketchup-ey "bbq sauce" they eat here in the Midwest! I have tried to make my own vinegar-based sauce but it's never as good as what I used to get at the Dixie Pig in Arkansas.

Cindi when I was in El Salvador I had some fabulous sweet tamales that had whole corn kernels and something else in them. Very tender, delicate, marvelous for breakfast.

Sure, WIP. I'm just doing my final check before I leave for a few days (I HEAR that applause!!) and as soon as I get back will send to you. This is made to taste like the famous Sprayberry's BBQ in Newnan, Ga. I made a huge batch last fall but I think SOL drinks it!! He puts it on everything! Also, don't know if you ever make it but my real specialty is brunswick stew. I could live on that stuff! Don't think there's a way to make it vegetarian, tho. (Don't mean to hijack your chile thread, Gabby. I wait with baited breath (that could be breath that smells like worms!) 'cause I'm going to make some as soon as I can. Sounds so good!).

Lets make Green Chile (for lushy)

ok....tired this mornin but I was up late last night.

I skinned 2 and a half bushels of chilies. Standin on that dang tile floor with the water tricklein to help rinse the chilies. With the garbage disposal runnin off and on driven by my knee and NO BEER....dammit. My back is burnin from the slant of my leanin over the sink and my throat is burnin from my inhaling the hotter chilies with out beer. To me this is the hardest part.

MOW...thank you but I am not only a woman but I am a mexican woman!
                            For now....in this thread anyway.

Yes Kate....we do green chile. Cold winter nights and hot summer days. We do green chile for lunch dinner and breakfast. We eat it when we are happy, sad, well and sick. Especially when we are sick! And I am not Martha I am Marqueta. (that's a new name)

Lushy....this is for you honey so I will try to hurry up ok??? (geeze she is bossy isn't she)

Kath....my batch will be bigger then this batch but that's because I have one son that feeds on this intravenously.

Kate....yes lushy wants a plane ticket to Denver. Then I can meet her too!

                            Nibs....glad your listening!!!

LVT25....Skin scab is a touchy thing. I leave it up to the farmers.

Sheep...SOMEONE will fedex you a bowl. I am sure of it.

WIP....glad I got you goin - stay tuned till the next episode! As The Chile Turns

Bluey....I am so glad your old bluey is back!

Tawny...I DO believe you know much about all. It shows on all your photos!!!

Lucky....yes - Cinders in right. You could surly do a vegetarian green chili. And actually this stuff is quite healthy. With the mixture of everything....its quite medicinal. This stuff eats away germs and bacteria and infection.

PP...your so damm cute...you dont need to cook.

cymru...my house smells like one big roasted chili pepper right now. Over powers everything even the animals.

Cinders...your tamales sound really good with the green chili.

                            And ruby....ooooh....so does that sauce.

And those of you who are salvating about this stuff and wanting it fed-exed....it does work cuz I have done it several times to my dad. Dry ice does the trick. Just a little costly.

Ok...gotta run now to get more supplies so lushy doesnt get mad at me for stallin. must keep this thread goin with more then just yackidy - yack.

                            so bye
