Thanks all, have gotten an appointment to go see a guy who runs one of those facilities that are like "homes" with only 6-8 other patients, in a house in a pleasant residential neighborhood. The patients are basically locked inside a nice house with very good staff-patient ratio, have their own bedrooms (I think single rooms) and home-cooked meals and activities etc. This one has an opening. Another one just like it turned her down a couple of months ago, but the Care Manager thinks this outfit will accept her, now she is medicated and hasn't been hitting and cursing at people (much) lately... the good news is she is never mean to the other patients around her, just staff people (and her daughter!). I think this may be the best choice... she just goes nutso at home alone, and won't tolerate people in her house telling her what to do. We'll see...
Trying to set up a meeting, at least a "conference call" with the idjit psychiatrist, so Care Manager person and I can attempt to determine what (if anything) he thinks about Mother's illness, recommendations, etc.
