I can understand so well where you are. My grandDad passed within a half hour of my returning from college so many years ago. He was holding on.

I was amongst the youngest of his grandchildren and spent so many days with him, developing an amazing bond. He prompted me to move beyond home and was so instrumental in my being the first in my family to graduate college. And yet he only got past 5th grade in France.

We exchanged tapes when I went off to college. He told me of his childhood, being in WW2. I was there when my Dad called. He was 86 and failing. 11 hours of driving from college, I arrived home on a very wintry night. He had not spoken nor responded within the last three days. I simply sat with him and spoke quietly....feeding back his favorite poet, Robert Frost.

For a brief 5-8 mins, he woke, spoke to my Aunt, gave me hell for missing class and shortly thereafter just faded away.

I know he is always there....and my guess is your Nan knows you are there too.

I am her youngest grandchild. She definately knows I'm here. I bring her roses from my yard every so often..something we share a common love of.
I'm going to go and dig up some of her rose bushes from her old house, so I'll still have them to tend... It will be something alive & a connection we can share...
I've told her I would do this long ago. Just haven't had the heart to just yet.
Not sure when the property might sell...
