I can see why your mom would want you to go to AA and really see why you don't want to go and say you are an alcholic every time you stand up and talk. The networking is good though, I think great people can be found at those meetings and they don't drink when they go out.
Too bad Women for Sobriety doesn't have a meeting near you, as they seem to have a really interesting approach, focused on building self-esteem, which I think really is what women need, not admission of our defects. But don't give up. Maybe there are some other meetings that are oriented toward women and are not based on the 12 steps.
You could make some calls to local hospitals/doctors or women's health groups and see what you come up with. In the meantime, stick with AA and use this site for online support.
