      The Debate is on!

I'm glad that I don't feel like I'm the only one who feels dumb as a door when it comes to this stuff, Lushy.

Thursday night's debate should be interesting.

I'm not a big fan of the stock market, and I'll save my diatribe for another time, but I was reassured to see its rebound today.

        The Debate is on!

I struggle to understand this crisis. But it is not the details. I simply do not have the in depth background as the leaders that we elect have. But I try & learn & this campaign & crisis has been an education.

Incredible! I almost do NOT want to watch the debate because... you know that feeling you get when someone embarrasses themselves. But I think she will do fine. Puke!

I used to love McCain, but I am sorry, he has turned into a bumbling embarrassingly desparate , opportunistic politician....

The whole problem is that the American people do not stay informed and then justt go with some cultural bias that one side has promoted at the voting booth. So frustrating. I know what it is . I come from western PA, doesn't get much more stupid than that.

Yea, yea..I know I am harsh...but that is how I feel.

          The Debate is on!

I remember when I used to think McCain would be a good choice, several years ago. I feel like he's not the maverick he used to be and had been indoctrinated into the Republican doctra.

          JMHO!

Noelle, I used to find Mcain more conservative in the past...? then after he lost too many brain cells he started to vote for gun control and even buddied up with Kennedy on more than a couple bills.

Lori, what website are you using for stats?

US contributions to UN Regular Budget

The United States has the maximum assessed contribution to the UN regular budget -- 22%. In 2005 the assessed amount is $439,611,612. The minimum assessed contribution is 0.001%. The scale of assessments for each UN member for the required contributions to the regular budget is determined every 3 years on the basis of Gross National Product (GNP).

Only nine countries (starting with the largest contributor: United States, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, China) contribute 75% of the entire regular budget. Cuba, which accounts for much of the behavior of the UN Human Rights Commission and its Sub-Commission, contributes .043% of the regular budget. Oil-rich Saudi Arabia contributes .713%.

In addition to their contributions to the UN regular budget, member states contribute to the peacekeeping operations budget and the cost of international courts and tribunals. The level of these contributions is based on their assessed contributions to the regular budget plus variations which take account of permanent membership on the Security Council.

UN members also make voluntary contributions to UN specialized agencies and subsidiary organizations. The administrative costs of such bodies, though, are met from the regular budget.

                    The Debate is on!

I am looking forward to the VP candidate debate Thursday. But as uninformed as Palin has shown herself in several areas, Biden pisses me off with some of the things he's said to the press. It ought to be interesting.

0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples).

McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

                            OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you?

If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes.

If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes.

This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax.

Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.
