    my story

i'm a 48 year old male. i've drank and drugged for nearly 35 years. :new:
htree years ago i nearly died. i went into a coma for five days. found out i had alcoholic hep and neuropathy in both legs and hands. even after all this i kept on drinking. then my wife found out she had cirrosis and pancreatic c. she died three months after she was diagnosed, less than a month after she turned 47. we were the same age and spent twenty years together: most of the time in bars. when she died, i decided to quit drinking. that was on 6-2-07. i've had a few 2-3 day f-ups since, but basically have been sober since. what i would like to know is will the neuropathy get better or am i crippled for the rest of my life. i am taking 800mg's neurontin 4 times a day and 100mgs b-1, 50mgs b-6 three times a day. my pcp said it should get better but doesn't know why it hasn't. can anyone help?

Welcome tmh. Unfortunatley, i am also unable to help on that matter but would like to welcome you. There are hundreds and hundreds on here from all over the world at different times of the day, with varying levels of alc addiction. Some are abstinent, some are modders and some are trying either, but at the beginning of there journey and need help from someone who 'understands' along the way.
You sound like you have been through it tmh, and to stay sober is great! Please stay around, and people will answer as they wake or come back to the p.c.
I am part of the AF army thread, and you are welcome to join us there. We chat(a little to much to keep up with at times) and help ourselves through the bad and celebrate the good. There are many other threads that are a great help also.
All the best, and i hope you find your answers here.

                  tmh08,

I'm so sorry for the loss of you wife. But, you are an amazing inspiration. To stop drinking after that many years is commendable! I have no information concerning your neuropathy, but wanted to say "welcome". This is a great place with wonderful, supportive people. I'm glad you found us! :h

tmh and kitty, I'm glad you're here. Just been here about a month, but it's been a miracle, slips and all. You are talking to people here who've been thru many of the same things as you, but you seem to have been knocked down again and again.I know a little about neuopathy - it's usually painful - but if you try to find other ways to live healthy, there are lots of people here who know about that. We find hope here, and life outside the bottle. You are young yet, and there is so much left for you in the sober world. Stay with us, both of you, and you can learn along with me.

I don't believe that you must be crippled for the rest of your life, do you???If you do believe that then you can surely make it come true...The body is a amazing self healing machine...Miracles happen every day all around us.There are plenty of web sites that can help you...Look up Jose Silva..I took his Mind Control class back in the 70s and it has helped me ever since...You are a powerful inspiring person and I hope to get to know you better..

                              my story

Hello and Welcome tmh and Kitty
I am so sorry for your loss tmh. I cannot even imagine the pain that you must have endured. What you are doing now is a great tribute to your wife. I am sure that she is smiling upon you. I do not think that neuropathy is permanent. Magnesium can be helpful. It is great for the nervous system. I take 250mg twice a day. I will try and find out more info for you. A great place to start is with the MWO book. I read the book and take most of the recommended supps. I would like to start the Topa. I am trying to get my doctor on board with that. I wish you well as you begin your journey. Life is Good AF.
