VP Debate - And I am so ashamed

I read an interesting Op-Ed in the Washington Post this morning that to me sums it up.

"Those rooting for her were relieved. Those who doubted her readiness going in were not persuaded by her endless repetition of the word maverick."

And can I just say that her winks are a bit creepy?

Firstly, I was relieved Biden didn't say something stupid again. Phew! Then, although yes Palin didn't usually answer the questions, she did surprisingly well in the debate in turning around the questions to her agenda. It was obvious, but I still had to admire the smoothness of her style. She'd be a good poker player.

I also thought (on a side note) that for this old candidate, Biden looked damned good. He looked in good health and not someone who couldn't last a presidential term.

I was annoyed why Palin handed her baby to the little girl. What the Hey! That baby was half the girl's size, why didn't her older daughter, her hell, her husband take it! The girl was struggling!

I came away liking Biden more, thinking Palin had a future in politics, she sealed her future, but the future should have Biden as VP not Palin, at least this round.

My two cents. Call me a Maverick :H

            Hart,
I met Biden and his wife last month. He is very handsome in person!. And very sweet. So is his wife. She is also a very serious, intelligent woman.

the dabate was pretty nauseating. two pull-string dolls. depending what campaign rhetoric you may want to hear.... simply pull the appropriate string.

at any rate we have much bigger problems than this election. This needs to be distributed to every breathing body in the US with a functioning brain:

IAD's glass, being sloped, holds more air in the top half than fluid in the bottom half.

I just figured I would point that out. No meaning intended...

Winking at the camera, folksy talk, dropping her g's, "Well, Joe there ya go again" was not vice presidential decorum. Actors and parrots can be taught to recite lines. I feel bad for every intelligent woman who has struggled in their careers not to use gender to be subjected to last night's fiasco from Sarah Palin.

Didn't we have 8 years of someone who talked folksy in the beginning? Was just a down home boy, yes a very dangerous down home boy.

Thanks, SKendall. I didn't recall that part, but I now remember thinking, "Don't we deserve a Veep that says You instead of Ya?" Of course, I've been longing for years for a President who could pronounce "nuclear".:H I've even looked it up--maybe I was wrong, maybe it really was nu-cul-ar. But nope, it's nu-cle-ar. Don't other countries deserve a President of the U.S. who is at least fluent in his own language, if not theirs? Do aides get shot if they tug on the President's coat and whisper, "Um, Mr. President, I think the correct pronunciation of that is "nu-cle-ar"?" Sorry for the rant; it's a pet peeve of mine.

                              Mags,

I went to bed around 10 but I had heard enough. I thought Biden exercised some restraint because it would have been too easy to call her on her shallow knowledge. At times it felt like a high school classroom when someone (Palin in this case) crammed for the test - then when the teacher asks a question, pumps her arm in the air frantically with a "oo, oo" so that she can recite the answer. The constant references to "Joe six-pack" were offensive. I mean, this is MWO, and we're NOT into 6-packs!!! I can see it now - she's across the table from world leaders at the G-8 summit, and she starts with a "Joe, say it ain't so . . ." Oh brother.
