    America Votes

I know every one doesnt give a rats about the US or its politics but personally I think its very important that America is on the cusp of voting a Black American as its PRESIDENT!!!! Not because he is a negro American but because it shows the Americans as the great country they are!!!!!! its history from lincon and the abolition of slavery. Its current history aint too good But its future I hope is great. As a lefty I appreciate the US its a barometer of the world who would have thought a Republican Government would have half socialised the American Financial system ..... Via revolution thanks W:H

Hi Capt'n: Oh, I beg to differ. I give a BIG damn. The majority of the people in my country are sick of stupid people running this country (the most stupid being W and Cheney). Obama is an incredibly intelligent man who I believe will surround himself with incredibly intelligent people who will be able to get this country back on the right track. Trickle down economics has not worked and has widened the gap between the haves and the have nots. Our middle class is disappearing. No health care for millions of Americans. Rampant unemployment or underemployment. We don't make anything in this country anymore. The jobs we do have are service related. It's pathetic.

I live in a very racist, Republican area. I have an Obama bumper sticker on my Toyota Hybrid. I have had motorists give me the finger, try to run me off the road, run up on my rear end, refuse to let me merge. My Obama/Biden sign was stolen out of my yard. This is the America I live in. You bet I am hoping for change! Go Obama!! Kay

I feel there has been more talk, excitement and speculation about this presidential race than any in my memory. I do think most American's give a big damn. We are hurting too much not to.

I do think a lot of Americans realise this is an important turning point in history, and those who live overseas (like myself) may feel it even more.

I don't believe America can continue to be a leader in the world without actually being a leader... I mean a leader that others in the world trust and respect.

I hope the right decision will be made by the people (and not cheated away from them by dirty dealings).

I do believe a (half) black American can give hope to both Americans and others in the rest of the world. That is what it means to be a world leader.

I feel that this election isn't as much about race as it is about being Leberal or concervative. Remember that their a lot of minorties involved in this election that are'nt black. Hispanics have a majority of the vote among minorities. Most are Catholic and conservative. Don't forget about us......we vote. IAD ( personally I'm a Independent....but am aware of the Hispanic vote ).

I agree with you capt. but I also think it is going to be extremely rough in the next 10 years. I kinda also worry that once Obama gets elected which by the way he will. there is going to be a lot of friction within the government.

I keep thinking that things are going to get rough and the military is gonna step in. Hopefully I am just being paranoid.

                    still sailing?

No, you're not being paranoid. I have been dreaming of horrible things happening. I don't know, Evie Lou, drop on in here. What do you think? I may be a doomsday prophet, I remember the sixties. AND things seems worse now than they were then. :upset:Kay

Don't worry KTB......It'l all come out in the wash. This country has so many check and balances to take care of our economy that if one person screws up someone will pick up the slack ! IAD.

KTB I have been keeping up with a lot of what is going on. American media is so powerful and efffective in keep the majority of the population totally stupid and blind.

I really worry about chaos in the coming years. We need to prepare.

the Bush administration keeps saying that they are training to help protect us citizens from a possible terrorist attack, my take on that is that they are preparing for revolts.

like in the late 80s and early 90s here in NYC. after all the homeless and squatter riots the police started training heavily for attacks by citizens.

I am voting for Obama, but I have this strange feeling that our votes no longer mean anything.

No, I do believe the votes still mean something (as long as they are not hijacked).

But chaos in the coming years, well, if the Republican candidate is elected, and his health should fail, and his second-in-command should become the Supreme Commander of the strongest power on earth... that worries me.

OK, she's a feisty gal. Good going. She can sure cheer! But President of the US????

I'm still not sure who to vote for. We usually vote republican, but hubby's really leaning toward Obama. We worked so hard, moved out of state just to get a good job with medical. (had a hysterectomy 2 months ago and insurance really came in handy). But were still check to check. Taxing our health care could really put a dent in our plans. As for Palin, I was all for her until she started talking. Maybe it's the media, but.....don't know. I'm really lost here, and I do believe my vote counts.
