Sorry about your chickens, Gia, that really hurts. And your laptop, what jerks!

I'm maybe feeling better today, have a cyst condition that recurrently gets infected, and I think that's what has had me feeling rotten. I should have gone to doc to get some antibiotics.... but didn't... now it's Friday.

I need to pick out flooring for the Florida house. The flooring I picked out won't work because of some kind of glue problem. So I have to use laminate or ceramic tile. I've been looking on the internet. There's some beautiful stuff out there! Originally I picked a high-quality linoleum that looks like hardwood, so I thought OK I'll get the laminate that looks like hardwood, and some of it is really nice; but then I started looking at the tile. The stuff that looks like stone. Wow. I wonder if I want that in the whole house? The kitchen doesn't need new flooring, nor (at this point the bathrooms, I'll do them later), but I am doing the living room (it is large and has huge windows, lots of light, looking out over the lake), the long hallway, and 2 bedrooms. What do y'all think? Tile throughout? Sort of a sandy-colored slate look? When my grandparents built it, they used cork tile, which looked great for quite a while, but it isn't practical.

WIP, we have tile like that in most of our house. It's easy clean up with all the pet hair we have...LOL!!

A suggestion, WIP. We use lots of tile, mostly Italian porcelain. Used some marble type once in little cottage we built in-laws, and MIL almost killed herself when she slipped on it getting out of tub. The textured is better! And safer! I LOVE it, so carefree, so cool. Usually just get mine at Lowe's. Hubs puts in down. Sister did her own, too. Even have it on my countertops.

Oh, Gia, I would love to do bamboo, but the guys in Florida want to use Mohawk laminate or tile, because of the concrete surface that has some old glue absorbed into it... they have been running tests on the surface and have figured out that these are the options that are most likely to stick, long-term. I'll bet your bamboo looks fantastic!

Thanks for the comment on the tile... I am leaning in that direction. I want something light, but not too bland, and not cold looking; and something that will fit in nicely in a house in Florida. My house has all hardwood floors, and I really don't like carpet. So I was leaning in the direction of wood, but I'm not sure that's what I really want in a lake house. Does that make sense?

Thanks LTG, Shelby, Ruby. That helps. I hope the tile is not just ruinously expensive. The place I am working with down there is a very good, reliable, solid business, and I am going to have to trust them.

Unless, that is, Ruby's husband might be available.... ???

Oh, Gia, that sounds wonderful! Yeah I am getting excited about this part. Once I get the flooring down, I will go to work on the bathrooms. The house has two long narrow bathrooms, sitting back-to-back. With all original (50 years old) fittings and tile; one with a shower stall, one with a tiny bathtub. I think I am going to take out the wall between them and make one large, nice bathroom. That's going to be a BIG project, but I hope to get moving on it in November. Had hoped the flooring would be down, by now, but everything moves slowly...

Beach rocks for the shower floor? hmmm

The Pirate wench costume was a big hit at work, but did I get any candy. NO Being very good here not tying into the six bags I bought for the little goblins who will coming to my door this evening.
