    AF Army Thread 07/11/08

    Good morning troops.

Seems a bit inappropriate me starting this thread this morning seen as I've only been popping my head in these past few days. Have not had proper chance to read back through the previous days threads so I'm at a bit of a loss to what's been happening recently. I did read about Alfie one so I hope your not too stressed at the moment and he's getting the attention he needs. Starting how's things with your mum? I know you've got a heck of a lot on your plate at present so my hearty congratulations for coping how you are with it all.

Well I'm able to see my daughter again this Saturday for the afternoon, which I'm over the moon about. My left toe is killing me at the moment because of the ingrown toe-nail which doesn't get seen too till Tuesday. Not looking forward to it one bit to be honest. So I hope everyone else is doing fine and dandy and taking life in their stride. Be positive and here's a picture I took on Wednesday of Jasmine to cheer you all up. I can't get enough of seeing her smile!

    Have a great day all

On did Alfie have an operation then? can't find your posts in yesterdays thread (or rather I'm too lazy to look back through all the posts!!).

Starting I'm sorry to hear about your mum's condition. I know you said it was worsening yesterday and I only hope her illness can be managed better for her to cause you all less stress.

Marbs yeah I forgot it was DAY 1 and the grand opening yesterday. Did you make your first million then? lol

Cym, just thought I'd let you know I got a shed load of forms to fill in over my benefit yesterday!!! Every 6 months they do this to keep their files updated!! So gotta repeat myself and fill em all in again today!! Oh what fun!!

Oh Oney, I have just lit a candle here for little Alfie- I got in really late last night and was too tired to post. I am sure he will be OK- my little Jack (the same one who had an accident a few months ago) was mauled by a huge dog three years ago, and 'died' various times on the operating table. he pulled through but for three weeks had to go everyday to get the wounds seen to.

It cost 2000euros in total, but he healed just fine- I think animals do so much better than us at that because they don't attached any emotions to their maladies. Anyway, I am praying for him and you too.

Lovely pic Hipps! She is one little cracker! I am guessing it was her birthday- sorry I probably shoud have known but I haven't been on much lately.

Starts, so sorry for your mum, at least they have put a name to your mum's condition now, so they can now maybe treat her accordingly. Well done- you have enormous stress, but are coping! That's brilliant.

The shop opened yesterday at midday, but we took 160 euros! To kep our heads above water we must average 350 per day, but I think for the first day that is pretty good. Unfortunately by 8 pm it looked more like a bar- some people who had popped in for shopping met up in there and started cracking open the beers- but obviously that was just a coincidence and will not be a regular thing. So now all my beer stock is done (I was only expecting to sell a few cans here and there) so I am off to stock up!

Have a great day all, Oney please let us know about Alfie- I am thinking of him constantly.

Oney that is good news I think- I know he is not out of the woods yet, but at least he seems happy. if the bowel is very narrow, you can just liquidise his food- I feed my little dogs nothing but raw mince, and they are both in great form for their ages.

And I know just what you mean about the cost- when I was taking Jack to be dressed they were charging me 50 euros a time, but I didn't care, I had no money at that time but I did have a credit card! I have only just finished paying that one off.

Oney, that is a positive start. Marby is right there are diets that will help.

Marbs, great going on yesterdays takings. The shop will be well known in no time at all if it is party night there!!! I am so pleased for you.

thanks for the candle Oney, I am so scared for her. At least now I will have more time to help out

One just a thought but it may be worth you arranging a petplan insurance cover for the future. They're always handy to have. I know most vets these days will let you pay in installments for their 'over-charging' costs but it's always best to have some kind of cover. It will only be a couple of pound a week and will definitely ease the financial burden of any future treatment he may need. Hopefully that won't be the case but it will bring you some slight peace of mind financially. I know money is no object when it comes to caring for our loved ones pets included as they are a part of the family in my eyes too. Give it some thought hon.

Bandit good morning and thanks for the kind words. I've heard so many horror stories about ingrown toenails that I'm actually getting quite worried about the operation as I'm having both removed!! I'll be hobbling around for days no doubt!! Thankfully I never wear shoes or socks unless I'm going out and always walk around bare footed in the house!! Bloody hippie that I am!!lol

                          Morning Cym!

Well what a lovely thought you've planted in my head this morning!!

I'm cooking that haggis for me tea tonight with mashed potatoes and mashed carrots and Swede!! Yeah I'm going to mash up a fresh young Swedish woman in me kitchen and eat her like Hanibal Lector with me haggis. A world culinary delight for me tonight!!. Any tips on how I should carve the Swede up??

There is SOOOOOO much information on here this morning!! LOL Seriously, Cym and Hipps, hope all is well soon, reallly! Hipps, that picture says it all. SO, so sorry for the diagnosis, but now they can begin constructive treatment to help her symptoms, anyway. Is she on oxygen? One, he's wagging his tail!! Great sign. He's so young, he may grow out of all the effects long term. Dogs are smart - they won't eat when there's something amiss with their tummies. He'll turn into a piggie again very soon! Good morning to everyone else too!

                              Knock her out.
                              Take photos for future reference
                              Strip and pluck
                              Cut into sections(arms, legs body)
You will get the bset cuts from the abbs and calf
                              Discard head
season with salt, pepper and mixed herbs
Either roast large pices on the bone or pan fry fillet cuts on a med heat.
Serve with veg and potato, with haggis on side
Blood can be used to make a nice rich jus.
