Off to show a rental to someone. Perfect little 1 BR/1BA in the country, big trees, deer in the yard, so nice, but we've had trouble leasing it. Perfect inside. Leased it to very young newlyweds, she called about ants, so I went into house with exterminator, and there was a homemade 'bong' with crack cocaine in it sitting out on counter. Made them leave that day. Anyway, trying again. Hate cold meetings.

S.O., emphysema (COPD) is not necessarily a progressive and/or fatal disease! My mother has had it for years, and uses no oxygen or inhalers. You have to keep an eye on the oxygen saturation in the blood; if it remains good, the person is just short of breath with exertion. If it doesn't remain good, the person gets a lot of help with oxygen and inhalers.

Is she a smoker? Once my mother stopped smoking, her COPD stabilized and did not get any worse.

Oney, this is VERY good news about Alfie!!!! Of course, you know that I know exactly how you feel...

hi Wip, she stopped smoking in 1991.
She is on inhalers and struggles to walk from her chair to the toilet. Over the last 2 months she has deteriorated a lot

Must be very hard starts. I watched my gran go down hill very quickly. Im just gratefull that she saw Erin before it happened. have a lovely photo in my bedroom of them when she was first born.

Wip the docs are completely negligent, they had her in a month ago and said there was nothing wrong (she couldnt breath at all) yesterday we complained to the consultant and he looked at the scans again and said it was plain she had emphysema. We thought the cancer had come back and thats why her breathing was so bad. So now she has to wait to get referred to a lung specialist and god only knows how long thatll take

Keep that tummy full. An empty stomach brings on the cravings real bad i find.
My dad has parkinsons, and has changed from being such a strong man to an old man. He used to be such a strong person, fit, funny and a great singer. would do concerts every night for 10 months of the year. When he retired he just changed. Is sad to see, but he seems happy in himself. Think once he stopped entertaining people every night he just got bored.

So, the consultant looked at the scans, but didn't see anything that looked like cancer? Oh, lord, I do know what you are going through, you know my mother had horribly incompetent treatment over the past 5 or 6 months. Things are supposedly better over here BUT geriatric care SUCKS, period! The guy who ended up being the only good doc my mother saw usually has a waiting time for first appointments, for new patients, of around 3-4 months. If I had not hired the geriatric nurse care manager, I would never have found out about him, and I would STILL not have gotten my mother in to see him... I do hope you get in to see the pulmonologist (and that he's a good one) SOON.
