I do not think they demeaned her at all. They asked her simple questions and she gave ridiculous answers. She was way over her head in this election. I now need to walk away from this thread because there is no end to this debate. And please keep in mind I am an Independent also. I actually voted for Bush the first time around, so don't think I am towing the party line here with my comments.

Thanks IAD, you know they would have never done anything like that to Michelle Obama. I think the media is very unfair sometimes.

This was a big election and it is a very uncertain time for us. It is obvious we are still affected by it all and will be for awhile. But right not all we can do is wait and pray and stand together :l I think we would be wise to let political threads rest awhile.

Eight years, you mean... From the administration who turned a national catastrophe into an excuse to ruin America's stance on torture. From the administration who took a budget surplus, and turned it into the greatest government spending spree of all time for all countries, gave taxpayer money to billionaire wall streeters, and left our country crippled by the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression.

I'm hoping that Obama succeeds, and within a few years the nation can be returned to fiscal security, peace, and a budget surplus, as it was in January 2000. That's what we elected him for. Who doesn't want economic stability?

IAD to address the nature of this thread I can appreciate your fears. Quite frankly regardless of who won this election I'd be afraid. The entire world is in a shaky state economically...it's not just the US and it's going to take some serious savvy to keep our boat right-side up. I hope that Obama is up for the job. If I was bitterly partisan I'd hope that he fails, but I'm not going down that road. I really hope he learns on his feet, surrounds himself with good folks, brings together both sides of the house in bipartisan spirit, and serves us well. I really do.

the best thing we can do as individual Americans is work hard, spend wise and enjoy the many freedoms we still have.

It is not the case that those who have warned for years, are now "lost", and some how "don't see" the enormous problems caused by recent administrations, from both parties.

Many of us have been warning for years. As a business owner, running a business over the last 21 years, giving people jobs in a recession makes me want to barf. It's not easy.

I will challenge anyone who says that I don't have a full knowledge of macro economics, or that any of the current conditions are "new" and somehow not tied to massive overspending of taxpayer funds by irresponsible government officials. And given that fact, I'm happy that finally we have elected a responsible man who chooses effective advisers, to take charge in January.

I'm ecstatic that as a well educated Lawyer, and decade long Professor of US Constitutional Law, Obama will likely restore Habeus Corpus and US compliance with the Geneva convention so that our soldiers are safer overseas, and Americans will regain our Constitutional freedoms of privacy, speech and equal justice under the law. These are values that people from both parties can attest to (McCain had the same stance on Geneva and Privacy) and change we can all feel good about.

What worries me more is that some members here seem to see themselves as the "thread police" and decide what they think is an appropriate or inappropriate topic for a thread!! Hardly democratic, don't you think? From the other side of the pond we are watching and hoping for a turnaround as clearly what happens in your country has massive repercussions for the rest of the world. I wish the new man the best of luck and hope he can live up to expectations.
