I think we have had enough of the political threads. What is, is what is. We all have to have faith that our new President will do what he can with the mess he has been left with.

What is the alternative IAD? We don't always get who we voted for. I don't see the point of having a thread after the fact that is just going to rile people up.

This is a time for genuine reconciliation. If Obama truly reaches out, we'll shut the door on the partisanship that dominated both the Bush and Clinton administrations. Let's wait and see, and not assume anything based on stereotypes and labels. There will be a time to judge actions, and it's not until after he's truly in office.

I think it's up to all of US to bring ourselves together no matter who we voted for.

Lushy....thier are alot of scared people out thier ! Obama has no track record. As an Independent, that's what scared me the most.....His past has been filled with too much of the Liberal agenda....chorting with unsavory indiviuals. Lot's of the people I've spoken to are really scared.....IAD

Then get over being frightened and hope and pray for the best. As I said before there is not one damn thing that can be done about it now. AKgirl is right. We all need to come together. IMHO, nobody could be scarier than Bush was.

IAD, it is a very scary and uncertain future, but we have to be brave and hopeful. I didn't vote for him and am scared as well. But we are just going to have to wait and see.

hey AKgirl, I am curious - it is not every day that us in the Lower 48 get to talk to an Alaskan! but do you think there are two Sarah Palins - or is that just media stuff? You know, they say she was a moderate populist in Alaska, but was very consevative in the race. What do you think?

akgirl (and Lushy), I couldn't agree more. It's true that there appears to be a deep divide between "liberals" and "conservatives" in this country. Elections bring out our differences and hide our areas of common ground, common concerns. And I believe that we have so much more in the way of common ground, than genuine differences; an election like this one, coming on the heels of 8 really bad years, should be telling us that we (all of us) desperately need to let go of the knee-jerk response, or habit, of being hide-bound, stubborn, and narrow-minded.

We've got some good reasons to be fearful, but I think that living out of fear is usually counterproductive and self-destructive. We also have good reason for hope. I hope we can learn to focus on the hope, so we can have the strength and energy to meaningfully address the reasons for our fears.

I would not rely on the media regarding anything about Sarah Palin, they reamed her in my opinion. I don't follow her close enough to know exactly where she stands but would say she is conservative. We are glad to have her back.

akgirl.....I think that the news media really screwed Palin over. The Media have brought us back to the days of Yellow Journalism ! It's a shame how the Lebral Press was alowed to demean a good woman like her. IAD.
