    November A@@ kickers - week 2

Just a quick one from me to start a new thread to all those aiming for an AF November! Welcome to old and new a@@kickers!!

Not posting long - I've been up for about 20 hours and I'm more than a little tired. We had our election here today and have just lost the best Prime Minister we have had for decades, to be replaced by a trumped-up, smug, little s****** who has very little in the way of substance or political philosophy .... I'll stop raving but I'm so depressed I may never drink again:H:H:H

I didn't have any wine, but 3 of us got through disgusting amounts of chocolate .... which I almost never eat so I'm feeling quite sick ........ I wonder whether it is possible to havea chocolate hangover??!!

Mame....I think it is very possible to have a chocolate hangover.....at least a sugar one! Remember, Hallowe'en just finished!!!!!!

It's been a quiet weekend without hubby! I miss having him around. I took the kids winter boot shopping, lunch, and to a movie yesterday. Today we, pardon me, I will focus on cleaning and some laundry.....have my SIL's bday this evening...and work tomorrow.

So basically...nothing exciting to tell....lol....day 25, 5 to go and I will not count anymore. I started my Topa on Thursday, so far so good. It may be too soon to tell, though when I drink my diet coke it tastes flat...so I can just imagine what my beloved beer would taste like....BARF! If I decide to mod will have to switch to white wine and god knows I won't get drunk on that stuff! lol.....

Anywhooooo...I hope everyone has a much more exciting weekend than I!!!!!

      Hello eyeryone!

:new:I'd like to jump on board; I've been AF since Monday.
I have been trying to moderate for a long time; I do well Mon-Fri, but when the weekend comes, I convince myself that I've "earned my beers" as a reward for working hard and being good all week. We all know how that story ends.
I discovered My Way Out last weekend and decided that moderation would not work for me.
I have read the book and lots of forum posts; I really like everyone's positive attitude. I have ordered the Kudzu, will maintain a very healthy diet, and pass on the Topamax.
I'm looking forward to a clear, bright future!
Thank you all for your help.

Good for you, Tom, and welcome!! It's a good idea to hang out here a lot, when you are first getting started; get to know some people, ask questions, tell us how you are doing. It helps, a lot.

well, I can answer my own question and Christy is right - you can have a chocolate hangover and it feels just as bad as the real thing!!! I'm really glad I haven't had anything to drink because otherwise I'd be lying in bed doing this to myself :b&d: right about now!!

As it is I'm just having a cup of tea with some paracetemol and about to go to my massage (the one that I'm rewarding myself with for having got through a week AF!) I'm feeling really pleased with myself and like this is well-deserved - it has been such a psychological barrier for me to break through!! And it has given me a bit more inner strength - Uncle Mame is going out of town for 10 days starting Tuesday, and I've been feeling a bit anxious that I might do something stupid while he is away. He is very encouraging to me and it really makes a difference.

Christy! What a star!! I look forward to celebrating your 30 days on Thursday! (or is it Friday? I get mixed up with the days!

Tom - this is a great place to be and you have made a great start already! I know exactly what you mean about the weekends - prior to November I had managed to not drink for 5-6 days of the week, but Friday nights were always my downfall!!

hi to everyone else to come ........ I'll let you know how my massage goes!

                    Good moning everyone,

Well, Saturday went well; stayed busy all day, accomplished a lot, and no beers.
Had a good nights sleep and I'm off to play today. I will have a challange with the "after sports" time, when we usually start drinking. I think I can handle it; the short-term pleasure is not worth the long-term damage.

                    See ya Monday!

Just wanted to stop by for some extra support (for me!). Been AF since 9/29, but joined this thread too because you can never do enough! On my grandson's 3rd b/d I'll have 55 days!!! Such a goal to look forward to! Hang in there, all!!

where is everyone??!! Out enjoying the weekend??

My massage yesterday was great and it completely relaxed me! Usually I have massages after work and then got to sleep, but yesterday was a morning massage .... and I was a complete blob all afternoon! Lay around and read the election post-mortems in the papers (really depressing) played with the kitttens (really fun - they have decided to explore a bit further than the 2m square area in which they have been sticking around, and seem to have got the hang of walking - they also try to run but usually end up falling over!!) and read my book. Went to bed early and slept like the dead!!

Have been doing a bit of a stocktake today on where I'm at. I really liked WIP's "Do you deserve a drink today?" post - it hit a nail on the head for me!! I've been managing on will power, but want to try to start turning my thoughts around and not thinking about wine as a "reward". So my thinking for the next week is going to be about how being AF allows my thinking to be a lot sharper (important to me for my job satisfaction) and also helps me to get out and push myself physically.

How's everyone else?? Is there anyone else???!!:H

                            Hi all
Day 10 almost done and dusted. Arent we doing well? I was very inspired by Doggy Girl's post today and what a transformation she achieved so as a result I really got out there and had two long fast walks today. I really need to lose that middle age spread that is making me look like sponge bob square pants.
