Time flies
Take care of yourself, Popeye. You have a lot to live for. Concentrate on the good in your life. You have done this before, I have no doubt you can do this again!
Do what I do. Keep telling yourself that drinking is a waste of valuable time and energy. You are worth a healthy, happy life.

Popeye, I remember you were here when I joined April last year. I remember you because I admired you so much and what you had achieved and how you tackled your sobriety. You CAN do it again. I too have had a long AF spell, quite a few really, but then gone back to try and "drink normally" but its just not working for me. So, I'm starting back on that AF path as well. I look forward to "seeing" you around the boards.
Good luck this time, make it the last time!

Hi Popeye,
Just saw your post now and wanted to wish you the best of luck. Funnily enough I had my last drink on Monday, November 10th, had been AF for a good few days before that, had a few sips of wine out of a glass on Monday night and threw it out so still considered myself AF...but officlally counting from November 11th!! - not an option for me anymore. We can do this because basically we have to.
xxThere will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.

Hi Popeye,
The good news is you're back! Talk about never giving up . . . was talking to hubby last night about the lack of relationship our folks have with our girls - who are all grown up now. It wasn't booze in our case, just a function of distance, health and a few other distractions. You sound like having a solid relationship with your children and grandchildren is an important thing, and no amount of AL is going to get in the way. That's a wonderful motivation - to be the best man you can be so that you can, in turn, have a healthy relationship with your family. Welcome back, and may you know only success.
