My father was a B-26 pilot in WWII. Later, he flew the B-47 throughout the Cold War, and the KC-135 during the Vietnam war. Career officer, USAF.

Thank you, Dad, and rest in peace.

Daddy was a veteran of three tours in Korea. He was shipped over in a plane he could see thru the floor in, and in the street shoes he had on. The frostbite he suffered in his toes and feet bothered him the rest of his life. My family members have fought in every war since the Revolution. I take their sacrifice seriously, and thank them from the bottom of my heart for our freedoms.

On the plane home today from NY, my husband and I sat across from soldiers coming home for the first time in 14 months, the other 8. It was really hard not to cry when they were honored over the loud speaker and everyone clapped.... my husband said he had never heard such loud applause (and he travels a LOT) as he did today. I felt honored to get to talk to them and hear their stories.
