Any link with Lexapro or any other AD's

Just wondering, if anyone else has found a similar situation. Before I was prescribed my AD's (Lexapro) I was what was defined a social drinker, have maximum 1 bottle wine per week, heaps of AF free time wihtout a worry. Along comes the Lexapro for depression and I have just spiralled out of control!!! Holy shit batman, maybe the AD's make me drink like a fish? I dearly wanted to come off them, but as there were some probs in the home dept, Dr suggested not to. I would love to wean off them and get onto the 5HTP as that is more natural and also helps with alcohol cravings.

Would be very interested to hear if anyone else has been on AD's and was drinking at the same time. :thanks:

I have been a problem drinker for years, even before I was ever on anti-depressants. But, that being said, YES, at least for me. I went completely out of control while on Effexor - I was drinking vodka, and began drinking in the morning for the first time in my life. The whole thing was a nightmare, including the withdrawal once I went off of it. I did it cold turkey because the therapist I was seeing simply wouldn't consider letting me try supplements only w/no meds.

There are threads here on that, as well as on the web. Do a Google search and you're sure to find it.

Good luck to you, I know how hellish that situation can be. The meds sent me over the edge into true looneyland. I have been off of all of them for almost two years and am much, much better - at least when I take my supps like a good girl:H!!

You described me to a T. I recently had to go back on Lexapro because I just really needed it, home life can be challenging here as well ; ). I did very well on SAMe for a long time without the side effects of wanting to drink and I highly recommend it.
