    Army Thread 19th November 2008

It's good to keep little pups out of big crowds of other dogs until they've had all shots.... but I certainly think going for walks is OK! They really aren't that delicate... Much like human babies, they can be taken out in public! That's my observation, anyhow, from growing up and living with dogs...

The biggest prob, my vet says, is parvo, and some other diseases, that can be transmitted through soil an infected animal has peed, pooped, etc. on, or on city streets. Parvo, if you have there, is usually fatal unless caught very early and expensive to treat. I've seen whole litters wiped out, when the owners have exercised good caution. Hard to figure.

Again, it's like raising a child, everyone has dif opinions. I love my vet, and he said they are not fully protected from parvo til after last shot. Puppies are the most susceptible, and he's already weaknd. Not trying to tell you what you should do, just what I do. I've never lost a litter yet, but it's heartbreaking and expensive!

I would love a puppy. Cy says its a bad idea as i don't live with him full time and wouldn't be able to bring the pup home to my parents house with me. Every time we go for a walk i bring up the subject of having a pup by saying " if we had a dog we could take him for lovely walks" But that doesn't work! I've had dogs in the past and think they are great companions.

Don't know whats wrong with me today. I have no energy and feel like i'm coming down with a cold. Sure it will pass after a good nights sleep.

Being cautious is good... but good heavens! How would you housebreak a puppy if you never took him outside??

OK all I am really, truly, outa here. Done my meditation, unpacked and re-packed various boxes of stuff going back and forth between the damn houses... gawd this is a HUGE project and it seems as if it never ends... plus it is heartbreaking, every damned day. Ahhhh...
