            Well it would be good to have some one-dollar bills, for tips. When someone carries your bags, you'll want to tip him ($2 per bag, usually). Also, cab drivers, although you can use credit cards in cabs. Not sure if you can put your tip on a credit card?

              LOL re tattoos krigs and a HUGE thank you for your kindness! Tattoos on forearm, have a few there already, mostly words as I'm not into the cosmic pics thing! But the stars will look pretty.....

                I got it Oney. You just have $50. dollar bills....you WILL need some ones, so break a $50 at the airport in NY. That will get you cab fare in smaller denominations. You can hit a bank once you arrive in Manhattan-no problem. Sorry for being so dense.

                    You'll be fine, Oney, if necessary, just apologize a lot in a very thick Irish accent... (almost) all Americans are totally charmed by an Irish accent... Say "begorrah," or whatever that word is... ???

                        tip when they carry your bags, tip the cabbies (maybe 10% of the fare), and tip in restaurants (15% of the bill).

                            If you buy take out food at a counter-no tip, generally. If you are served-yes tip. Bell hops in Hotel-yes; Cabs-yes. Subway-no.

                              Tip the maid when you leave the hotel, 1-2 dollars a night, depending on how good a job they did on the room.

                                If you get the chance, the Museum of Modern Art is a great place to visit. You don't have to tip anyone there. :-)
