Army thread 14 December 08
good morning all. Been a while since I started an army thread. I celebrate 2 weeks sobriety today. I'm feeling very positive about things this time round, and really hope that I can see it through this time. I'm not promising anything to anyone, cause I don't want to build myself up for a big fall. All I know is that today I will be alc free, happy and bald!
Hope everyone has a great day. XTo Infinity And Beyond!!Tags: None

Greetings cy and wishy - HUGE applause to you cy for 14 days! And what a delightful post to ya man, wish! You two are divine! Wish, hope your headaches gone?
I got home about two hours ago from a very busy and emotional weekend, in all areas....had delightful evening with my dad and his lady (Bev), scoffed souvlakis (they indulged in wine and gin, but not to excess) and I was very comfortable not drinking, just being with them.
Had FAB day with Vea (9.30am-2pm!) Prison actually put on STEAK, meat patties, sausies, chops FRESH lettuce and potato salad and boysenberry ice cream. The sad part was that out of 60 inmates in his unit, only 9 had family members attend. The others did not get to attend, poor lost souls. Vea is very positive and lovely and we SNOGGED HEAPS LOL!!!
Good to be home, all is peaceful and serene on the home front and in my head and heart.

I hear you play a bit of guitar? I like to piddle around on the bass - just got a new lead for mine tonight -- plugging it in...

Great to have you back Kap. We all missed ya yesterday. My parents are musicians, so have been brought up with all diff types of music. They were both professional singers in the National opera.
Singing is my main love, but mum and dad have lots of musical instruments to mess about with at there house and have a 'music room' with wicked acoustics. Erin loves it!To Infinity And Beyond!!

Good morning peeps and what a lovely positve thread today.
Baldy, you are a star! Well done! ~Very very proud of you. And yes, no promises, just enjoy your sobriety.
Wishy, I am worried about you hun, hope the doc sorts you out tomorrow x
Kapo, delighted for you that you had a good time with your family and vea, I cant imagine how difficult it must be for you just now but your strength and determination is lovely to see.
Feeling pretty damn good here too, socialising worries me a bit (well a lot really) but I did it and it went ok, so another hurdle cleared.Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

A mini lie in for me since I didnt get to bed until 1am. For me that is VERY late! Woke up at 5 as someone forgot to cancel the alarm though but managed to get back to sleep for a bit.
Today I am studying, doing some cleaning and sorting out the pc, just bought an external hardrive so am going to clear all the music and photos off pc to see if it will run a bit quicker.
how about you?Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

Great stuff re socialising, Starts!! I find it hard, too. What I do is attend and not feel at all bad or guilty if I politely leave AS SOON AS I AM READY - even if it is only after half an hour. NOTHING is worth risking my sobriety. "Those who mind (my not drinking) don't matter, and those who matter to me don't mind (my not drinking)!
CY! I too was raised with a mum who was a backing vocalist for visiting overseas artists, and she was (she died sadly in 2006) one of 6 very musical sisters, and quite high profile in NZ (I AM bragging, but that's OK!!) Singing is also my main passion, GOD! What a release it is!
We are a multi-talented lot, we alkies, cy, I am proud to know ya.
Just want to share a wee story about my day:
I left prison around 2pm to get bus into city in order to get shuttle back home. Well, I only had a $50 note on me, and the driver of the local bus was peeved to say the least. Another woman who had been visiting ( in another wing) paid me on. We got talking, as I was humbly grateful. She was a serious burn victim (lost fingers on both hands and BADLY scarred) She received the burns as a result of active addiction, and is in RECOVERY today. I SHIT YOU NOT - it was only a 10 minute bus ride, and I don't even know her name - but it was a VERY special and "godly" moment.*Serenity is the calm WITHIN the storm*

Its those moments that you never forget Kap. Its God showing you the way i guess in his own way. Its strangely powerfull, those moments. Its moments like that i realise that someone is looking over me. Not sure who or how, but there is def some 'higher' force there somewhere.
Not sure what to do tdy. Nothing really planned. Wouldnt mind going for a walk, and its Erins sisters birthday so will drop a present off for her. All depends how wish is feeling. Will cook her some lunch and see how she feels. Oh, and im going to take some WD40 to our next door neighbours house and ask them to spray some on there door, cause the squeaking is driving me mad! Swear they just stand there at night opening and closing it!!To Infinity And Beyond!!

Kapo, that is a lovely story! All these things teach us something dont they?
I love all these positive stories, we can do this ! it is possible!
Yes agree with you about the leaving thing. Last night was tough though because I knew it was going to be a long night. There were some slovakian people there who like nothing better than chatting and drinking until the early hours and I did feel quite a lot of pressure to stay the course. They were colleagues of Richs and I really didnt want to let him down....for once..I didnt I am relieved to say.Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008
