My poor sis not only lost her power, but also her heat, hot water, and phone. The town that I work in still has 90% without power. This is the work ice storm that I have ever seen.

I can dry age mine at home, E.L. Very simple. Sea, we have a big generator, woodburning stove, oil lamps, etc. That's how we got thru that week. We also live on a high hill, and had the only lights for miles. It drew neighbors like moths!!!

By the by, E.L., I'm making Mile High White Chocolate Hummingbird Cake for dessert. My (83 yr-old) MIL INSISTS on baking about 3 desserts, and they USED to be wonderful, but she forgets things now! My cake has 8 thin layers, and you're prob familiar with Hummingbird, or Dr. Lane, or Lady Baltimore cake. It has a banana and nut base. One year I made a sour cream layer cake with white icing, then decorated it with clear sugar crystals, crystalized cranberries and rosemary sprigs to look like wreaths. It looked like a winter forest. No one would cut it!!!! It think it was a ruse to end up taking it all home with them!!!

                            Hi Everyone,
I just watched The Dark Knight last night; I thought it was good! It's not the type of movie I am usually attracted to but I did enjoy it.
Cy, Good on you for 14 days....you are a Star!!!!!
Wishy, We want a full report tomorrow on your Dr visit; you need to get this sorted out, honey.
Rubes and EL, I love your prime rib and cake talk; Ruby, I would love to have that hummingbird cake recipie- it sounds divine, to say the least. Rubes, I hope you get rid of your soreness really soon!
Oney, You are sounding SOOO happy in the midst of your Christmas hub bub! I'm glad for you!
Start, I need to pm you about the external hard drive. I just bought one last week and backed up my laptop, but I have not removed anything from the laptop. I guess I have the fear that I didn't really back up everything. If I knew I could retreive something readily from the external drive I would feel more comfortable deleting things from the laptop.
Sea, It sounds like you are going to have a nice "football" day with your sis. How long do you think it will be before the power is restored for your city? This is not the time of year people need to be put in peril like this. Have people died due to the lack of power?
Bandy and Gyco, I hope you both are doing fine.
Wippy, At least you can turn another page on getting you Mom's stuff taken care of. One step at a time and one day at a time. I'm sure you have already given yourself permission to eat a little more during these especially stressful times.
We have snow on the ground and blue skies; it is truly beautiful. I was trying to take a picture but my digital camera has taken a crapper. I may try with my blackberry later and post if I get something decent to share. Have a great day everyone....I should be here, off and on, all day.
Sweet, Good for you on building up those AF days. Are you seeing some positive benefits at this point?
                            Love to All, Krigs
