O2M, sorry to hear about Mark but it is probably in his best interest that he be looked after. Also, in the long run, I think it will be best for the family as well. With his care being placed in the hands of professionals, it takes away the family's "woulda coulda shoulda's" with respect to helping him manage on his own. I hope that thought is of some comfort to you and Rob :h

It's a subscription movie thing; they mail DVDs to you AND also you can get them on your computer OR on your TV over the internet. To get them on your TV over the internet you have to buy a connector box. But it's not very expensive and there is TONS of stuff you can watch on the computer, no need to get DVD's at all... I love it.

It is Superfreezing here, and we have about 20 inches of snow on the ground.
The Princess is not feeling well Oney. She has a cold.

Oney, hearing voices rarely results in a person actually being violent. BUT clearly Mark has an established behavioral repertoire that includes cutting himself; that doesn't necessarily mean he is suicidal, but of course it is NOT a good thing. The meds he can be given are reasonably effective, and for some people with paranoid schizophrenia, they are very effective. Also, they can be given in a version that consists of an injection once a month, so that cuts out a lot of the problems with people not taking their meds... over here in the USA it's fairly routine to get the state to pay for a case manager, a person who looks after the person who is disabled by mental illness... does he have any social support services through the government's mental health service?
