My SIL says his mother, who is very socially promient and concious, ALWAYS has sit down dinners planned exactly to the amount of food for the people expected, no leftovers. I told him I could do that, but everyone would go home crying. He begged me not to change the way I do things. He told me he looks forward to my meals for months in advance! Love that boy! I took my Mother's place being sure there's always enough, since a lot of people bring nothing, or something take-out!
