Hi all

Happy NY to everyone. Guitarista, it is so cool that it is already new years day in australia.

Work- tell me about the stovetop smoker. I would love one.

I have a question- what does "army thread" mean? is it the army of people gathered here? Just wondering. I was thinking it was some special group that meets on this thread. Is it open to all?

I have been cleaning and organizing for days now and today I am doing it with a lot of enthusiasm. I've held on to a lot of "stuff" that I brought with me from New Orleans.
A lot of it has no place here anymore so today I finally let go. Part of me feels sad and I will cry but I probably need to. I am looking at today and tomorrow as a huge cleansing. I have declined invitations and made the choice to continue my quest and bring in the new year sober.

Tomorrow I will begin 2009 with meditation and excercise instead of a hangover and I can't wait.

NZ, you are very welcome on this thread! I'll let Oney describe the history...

The stovetop smoker is made by Cameron... it is just a metal box with a sliding lid, and a sort of inner tray to set inside. You put some powdered wood chips inside, then put the liner on top, and the food in the liner box, and slide it shut... then put it on a burner.... the wood begins smoking, and you can cook something like chicken parts, for example, in 30-40 minutes... I haven't used it yet.. it just arrived. When I was following the "Zone" diet I read about it (several years ago) and finally decided to get one!

Yup, meditation, and exercise... those are absolutely key, for my own recovery program. I am adding yoga this year... I used to really love it...

Oh, NZ, I just noticed that you said you moved from New Orleans... lord, that brings up a lot of feelings for anyone who loves that city. Were you there before the Katrina? Are you a NOLA native?

Hi Starts, yes you can see I am longing to get the hell into '09, and out of '08, and out of the midwestern USA.

Doing OK, going out in a little while, with a non-drinking small group for at least the early part of NY Eve....

I cant wait to say goodbye to 2008 its been feckin awful in so many ways....but having said that I am probably doing the best thing I have ever done because of it....weird...
