Tell Us About Your Pets :h

    crates!
my dogs love their crates and when we travel it gives them security to have their "bedroom" travel with us. maybe you could start out now and give them treats and praise when they go in and don't shut the door, let them wander in and out. you might find their wolf instincts for a den kick in and they like their space.

      Hi LTG and everyone,
We currently have one dog called Molly (sort of Irish terrier) who has been with us about a year now, she ended up in the dog home as her owner's partner died and they didn't want to keep her so kinda sad really but she is a great dog, really good with the kids but a little disobedient!. We also have two rabbits (Sparkle Love & Flash) and 5 cats (Mammy, Bandit, Padre, Lips & Socks)- the cats are all strays and the 4 are the offspring of this wild cat that used to drop each of her litters in our garden a couple of times a year. In the end we caught her and got her neutered and she still lives with us (hence the name 'Mammy') but at one stage we had 14 cats and we couldn't keep up with it so we got homes for a lot of them. Would post pics but like Maddiva still figuring out the posting photo thing!
      xx

My Kitty Rosie was visiting her friends next door at the French restaurant and 2 cars were pulling out of the parking lot at the same time ...they said she didn't know which way to run and one of the cars ran over her tail...She's OK but my heart is sad...it scared her sooo that she won't even go out on the porch since that happened.

i do love my beagles and rat terrier so much, but there's something about a big goofy dog that just kills me!

We so want a dog...something smaller. maybe a MINI DACHSHUND or a King Charles spaniel ...I am just afraid that some guests may have allergies..we have had them complain about Rosie, because of that.

I have a yorkie. They don't shed. I think they have hair as opposed to fur. He's a sweetie, good natured. The only thing is they get very lonely if left alone all day every day.

Everything I need is within me!

I haven't had time to read through all this thread, but thought I would post a question.
I have an 11 year old Jack Russell and a 19yo cat. The cat is becoming more and more of a concern to me. He has these twitches now, that almost knock him down when he is standing, his claws are all whacky and he gets stuck on everything he walks on - quite a pain. But, my biggest concern is his nutrition. He was a sort of farm cat growing up, as we lived on a big university farm. He literally lived on squirrels, rabbits and bird - I would leave a bowl of dry food for him and it would take him 2 weeks to get through it!!! Very strong cat, strong constitution, self-healing, etc. Now he is old, and has no teeth left, he is on canned cat food. But I don't think he is getting any nutrition from it. He wants to eat constantly, we give him small bits at a time, otherwise he eats too much and vomits. But I wonder if he is getting what he needs from the cat food. I pulled out some frozen fish from my deepfreeze (kinda freezer burnt, so I don't want it) and cooked it up for him, and that helped a bit I think. For a cat who eats all the time, he is very skinny. Any suggestions on what I could feed him - other cat food brands (here in Canada)- would be great!!! Maybe it is just his body, but maybe it is the food? I just won't want the poor old guy starving!

                      Thanks for listening guys!
                      xo Peanut

                        Hi Peanut,
I have an old cat that lives in our garden and a lot of her teeth have gone at this stage so she finds it hard to eat what the other cats are getting. She still eats some canned food but I really have to mash it up well for her, she also loves canned tuna and sardines, again really well mashed up with a lot of the oil still in it which must do her good and the other thing I feed her sometimes which she loves is the packet baby rice and other baby food that you can get
Hope she feeds for you, it's hard when they get old but sounds like she has had a full life and that you are doing your best for her!
                        xx

I said that to Hubby and he agreed...King Charles was what he wanted, anyway...now we have to get Rosie's permission ????

My ruby cavalier Lady, really lived up to her name. Quiet, sweet gentle, friendly without jumping up, just an all round little lady.
Diana and Chuck were the Blenheims (red and white) and they were both really high strung compared to Lady. both liked to jump up on your legs, both yapped more and both ate like they had never seen food in their lives.
Fergie was another ruby and again more gentle and placid.
Tri-colours and blenheims, (in my opinion) are more energetic than Rubies and black'n'tans.
All colours are wonderful, wonderful pets.
I really love the REDS and the Black and tans...nothing with tooo much white. i have been looking on line. I was a show groomer in my earlier days and trained bloodhounds for search and resuce...small dogs have never been a favorite of mine...The think King Charles are Big Dogs in small bodies...
We live in the middle of town and own an Inn so it is a hard decision to make, if we can give the time and space that a dog needs...we are sure thinking about it...Rosie reads minds..I was looking at dogs on my PC and she gave me the dirtyist look ever....YICKS, the jealousy is starting already.
