What is important to you in a/your relationship?

For those of you that are single and find yourself in a "do it over" situation, what characteristics are a MUST to you in your next relationship?

And those of you in a relationship, if you could change something about your significant other to improve your relationship, what would it be?

The biggest thing in my marriage is that we were forty when we did it.

Both of us. We never married before. I was 44 and my spouse was 40.

So that gives us a totally different perspective. For one thing we were never poor together. For another thing children are out of the question. We have a great deal of respect for each other's space.

All of the above are important but since I have been on the other end of this one I would have to say that my one non-negotiable would be:

HONESTY

I am getting out of a relationship at this time because he has no idea what the word truth means!!! No plans of getting into another relationship but if I ever did that would be it.

When he was drinking, all I ever wanted was for him to be sober.
He has worked so hard and achieved that. Everything else is so small.
