Smoke Free Lifesytle
In NE you don't need script for nicorette...thank goodness... anyway day 7 NF and day 7 AM (I tried getting rid of both at the same time) thankfully all of my family is still alive.
I have a motivator. I never smoked in the house but smoked the garage, porch, barn, etc. Whenever my 14 yr old son, who is very health conscious would walk by me he would cover his nose/mouth with his shirt. I have been getting spontanious hugs from him now and he says, "mom, you smell great".....what better from a 14 yr old?
The only draw back is that my jaws are sore.

I think it's great that so many people here are attempting to quit smoking, so I figured I would offer some words of encouragement. I quit smoking over 8 years ago and cannot emphasize enough how much my health improved. I was a chain smoker for 6 years, and realized that at the age of only 21 I was becoming winded climbing a flight of stairs. In any case, about 6 months after I quit I noticed the following:
- increased appetite and improved sense of taste
- far better physical endurance and energy
- much more relaxed
After a year the intense cravings that many of you may be battling completely disappeared; and I mean completely! I've talked to many ex-smokers who have said much the same. This was also the point at which I was able to start performing at physical exercise levels that I hadn't reached since I was a kid. I also noticed an incredible improvement in my immune system. Smoking seriously depletes vitamins, maybe even worse than alcohol. I used to catch several nasty colds each winter, at least one of which would progress into a serious secondary infection. Since I quit smoking I think I might be able to count the number of colds I've had on one hand. Lastly, another terrific benefit of quitting smoking, mainly due to improved circulation, is a healthier sex drive, even among those who had healthy sexual vitality while smoking.
With all these positives said, I would like to issue one warning. When I quit I soon realized how much smoking can slow you down and drain your energy, even while doing activities I enjoyed like drinking. As a result, my alcohol intake GREATLY increased after I quit, and I've talked to many ex-smokers who've said the same. I know many of you are AF, but for those still struggling, please be extra careful. Your increased energy may encourage you to drink even more alcohol, so it's extra important to lay off the stuff. Paradoxically, increased alcohol can intesify nicotine cravings, as we all know, so it's a tricky situation to be in.
That said, I can guarantee that you will all feel like you've inherited a new body if you stick to quitting. Good luck!

I quit for 6 years prior and started again because of marital discord (way to help things, right?) I quit again on the 1st of the year, the effects of nic can be much the same as booze and when put together....the effect is sooooo intoxicating to a smoker. Those of us who have smoked know...those of you who have not, don't (DON"T START FOR ANY REASON). As a new friend has said, in the words of Forrest Gump, "One less thing to worry about". I think he is pretty smart, even as a young, non smoker!

Day 2 without smokes.... so far, so good.
Yesterday I told my b/f to take my car so I couldn't go out and today, well the car is here but I'm not going out. Period. If I do, I'm not sure what I'd come home with! LOLOkay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?
