    Army Thread 9th January

How come, Kriger? What are the advantages of Georgia over Florida, for you (you can tell I am thinking about moving to Florida, eh?)?

I was thinking the same thing myself yesterday. I would love to move back to CA but just can't. I was searching yesterday near Red River Army Depot and FL as husbo can transfer when the right openings come up.

My son's family with my two granddaughters live in Atlanta, WIP. That is where my heartstrings are calling me. If I moved to FL I would want to be somewhere near Mom and Dad but hubby like a metro area, so that would mean Orlando.....I don't care much for Orlando.

Orlando is just hot and humid and way too Disney for me.

ahh, that makes sense... I don't like Orlando, either, and that's the biggest "negative" that's in my mind, about moving to the house in Sanford. It's weird because Sanford is small-town, old-Florida, but... VERY close to Orlando, at this point everything is practically a suburb of Orlando (and I HATE Disney and everything Disney)... Orlando is not the kind of city I really want to be near... I'd much rather be near a city with a university, or Jacksonville, or (maybe) Miami, or even Tampa... But I already have that house, and it's right there on the lake....

Very north east TX, near OK and AR. There are many lakes up there for fishing, including 2 on the base. We could have a decent home with 1/4 - 3/4 acre for about 75K.

My in-laws are in Sebring and dad loves his lakes for fishing.

There are SOOO many lakes in central and north central Florida. It makes me feel serene in many ways and Real Estate is so much lower in price!

My husband works for the gov. and there many locations in FL that we can look into. I need to get coastal again, or atleast within driving distance.

Exactly. Feels serene to me, too... and I crave that. Being anywhere near Atlanta would be overwhelming to me, I think.

My house is over to the left, at the end of this quiet little road, facing the lake... :

WIP, don't you love sunrise and sunset sitting in front of those lakes with the fog or just dew in the air?
LTG, How about Cocoa Beach or somewhere near there?

Yes, it is, LTG... very quiet... although these days, I guess in the summer there are those awful wave-runner things, and some of the loud, faster boats, on the lake (when I was a kid, it was REALLY quiet!); but... no public docks within about 2 miles.... so, relatively very quiet. And it isn't a huge recreational lake, fortunately. We get a bunch of old guys, sometimes whole families, fishing with cane poles out on the sea wall... which some of the neighbors hate, but it's fine with me... I have a double lot, so the back yard gives me a lot of space, away from the neighbors...
