    The madness of medical insurance

I received a letter today from the vascular surgeon's office.
It stated that for any medical forms to be completed by a physician there is a payment required of $25.00 per form also enclosed is a copy of the letter from Metlife to the physician stating that any payment for the medical forms is the responsability of the patient.
I have been paying my deductable each and every week to Metlife for my coverage for short term disability now that I am unable to work for medical reasons and have no income I have to be the one to pay for forms that Metlife will not pay for.
Now I am willing to bet a penny to a hundred pound that come Monday Metlife will tell me that they cannot approve my claim because they do not have all the medical forms neccesary to make a decision concerning my claim.
    BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!
    I give up f***k it

Sean, i know exactly how you feel. I havent recieved a penny for incapacity benifit since the beginning of October, and only now are things beginning to happen. I also had to fork out money for the doctor to sign certain forms. Fecking ridiculous. I believe its called working the system, but it sucks BIG TIME.
Your not the only one mate, and there are lots of us in the same boat. Keep strong.

            Hi Sean,
I only have a minute, but, you need to call Social Services, you may be eligible for Medicaid, since you are on disability. You also might be eligible for other services. This is not a hand out, these are services put in place for working people like you, who, through no fault of their own find themselves in difficult circumstances. I hope this helps.

              Thanks everyone,

Well as I am not working and local calls on the phone are free, I am going to spend Monday calling various places i.e. Social services, Legal aid (I'm looking into suing Metlife for breach of contract. The information given to me that I based my decission to enroll in short term disability says nothing about fee's for medical records, I have checked the small print) I am going to call the food bank today to see if they are open. Here in Montana(or maybe just here in Missoula) I can call 211 which is a number for emergency help. I just found that out at 3 this morning on a P.S.A. (Public Service Announcement) on T.V. maybe there was a reason why I couldnt sleep I also have about 2 dozen D.V.D.s I can probibly sell for $1 a piece, maybe I will try and sell the Japanese sake' bottles and cups I have been collecting all this time. I picked them up in variuos thrift stores like Goodwill,Secret Seconds and other charity shops. I am not very pleased with myself for smoking and will try again soon. In the words of Lloyd Bridges in Airplane " I picked a lousey time to quit smoking".
              Love to all,
              Sean...

sean,i wish you well,I'm on short term disability now,but it could run into long,i hope not,i pay my benefits thro the company, like you when you do take benefits there happy to take your coin, but don't get sick, heaven forbid,my nurse said the forms should be in or i might get cut off,i cant push the doctor any more then i had,and hes the specialist,he wrote a note saying i cant do my duties outside anymore, they couldn't provide me with work within,so I'm off rt now till February sometime,

Sean it may be possible that the deductible you have been paying covers the $25.00. Insurance companies are notorious for sending out confusing paperwork. Before you get too upset please call the insurance to make sure that you are understanding exactly what they are asking for. Best of luck, too bad about the smokes.

Definitely stick to the plan for Monday. Call every agency you can think of that helps people, even if temporarily, for some financial help. You have rent to pay, and you need to eat.

                    Keep fighting back.

Also, yes, check in with your insurance agency and see if the fee's for the forms are covered.

                    I feel for you.
