Wishy, thats very much how we felt with my dad...completely useless. It has to come from him, he knows what he has and what he will lose. You are doing everything you can, there is no more you can do.
From my experience as I said yesterday, gps are not particularly clued up on addiction. A specialist would probably be more use.
But what you can do, is look after yourself and keep yourself strong, you would be no use to Cy if you had a breakdown...so please do that OK? xLiving now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

I'm trying my best to look after myself and i have got better at doing that in the past few weeks, that's mainly due to the support i get here from all my friends. I really don't know how i would have got through these last few weeks if it wasn't for MWO. Thanks everyone x

I'm in a bit of wicked pain, but this too shall pass. It is, at least, pain of the body that can be treated and healed. Wish & Cym are in my prayers, as all of you who have such problems.sigpic

Good morning all. Feeling better today after a good nights kip. I needed that. Thanks for the pm kap. It meant alot. I don't know why, but I seemed to get a buzz out of being drunk in a public place. It's something that at the time I really wanted to do. Very strange. I know my problem is serious, but deep down I know I have to stop, but do I really want to.... I have alot of questions written down that I need to answer. Honestly.
Hope everyone has a great day.To Infinity And Beyond!!

Am SOOO very glad I have seen you before I sleep Cy - just heading to bed now. I am wishing you and your dear Wish every success in beating this fucking demon. JUST DO IT FOR TODAY, Cy and tomorrow will take care of itself....Deep breaths, focus on NOT taking the FIRST drink.
On a lighter note cy - I think you should be dam grateful that you kick is from being drunk in public, and not, for example, FLASHING :H - but seriously, mate - we suffer from a disease that wants us DEAD, but is quite happy to settle for us drunk.....(read: useless, depressed, anxious, suicidal, broke.....)
Bless you cy, bless you wishy, bless you all in the regiment tonight/today and over and out from Kapo x See y'all in your evening/my morn x*Serenity is the calm WITHIN the storm*

Cym and Wish, I feel such a connection to you, even at such a distance. I only 'Wish' you were closer so we might get Intervention or some such project to get you into one of one of these wonderful programs we have here. I will NEVER regret the 28 days I spent in Pensacola, FLorida, and what I learned there. We were told we didn't have to change anything, we had to change EVERYTHING! Maybe now is the time to make some changes, to have some new motivations, to get out of the old patterns and ruts that lead back to the same destination. I want a sober future for you both SO much, hopefully together, but at least happily sober and proud of yourselves. Wish, sometimes, the more we push, the higher the wall. I agree with the others - you must care for yourself FIRST. Cym, you must do the same, and not expect anyone else to do it for you. Today's calendar thought is "Duty should be a byproduct." (Brenda Ueland) I had to really think about that one, and it's an individual interpretation. I'm not lighting a candle for you two, I'm burning a whole damn log!sigpic

Good morning everyone. My first morning on the army thread. I thought it was for people in the actual military! Shows you all how airy I can be!
Sorry to hear about those of you who are struggling with such difficult issues. I hope you all find resolve.
I am from New England.....sounds like a lot of you live 'across the pond'?
