          Thanks heaps for all the well wishes.

          I've spent this past week clean and sober and have decided that enough is enough for me. I'm throwing in the towel with alcohol because finally I've come to the realisation FINALLY that it's got me beat. It's no use me fighting anymore as I'll loose every time and end up back in the same place sooner or later. A big part of AA is admitting we are powerless over alcohol and like I say I've finally succumbed to this thinking. The party is over and a new and sober one is just beginning for me. So tonight instead of going to my mates for a meal and probably having a drink under the pretense that I'm 'moderating'; I'll be sat in a room full of addicts at my 2nd N/A meeting this week.

          I appraoched a local alcohol/drug project last week and 2 guys came out to see me at home on Monday. I recently drank on Antabuse and after feeling better the first thing I did was have drink rather than take a tablet!!DOH. So Sunday was my last drink (mainly to calm my nerves after chasing a few dragons the night before) and as I say I'm throwing in the towel. It's always hard to admit defeat but this is one battle I'm never gonna win so I'm walking away and getting sober once and for all. The most important thing for me right now is to have a decent support network with numbers in my phone that I WILL use this time. I went to so many meeting in the past and got numbers but NEVER rang any of them.

              Great to hear from you Hippie, and I hope your birthday is the best ever and truly truly, as you say, the beginning of a sober life forever.
