Sober for a change!!
Bella-
Hey there! Listen, I have to tell you that after struggling for more years then I care to remember, I am finding success through AA. I am approaching 2 months...and i was a daily drinker. I truly did not think AA was my thing, yet it is working!! The fact your hubby is being so great and supportive is wonderful. My advice...read the book, and go to a meeting. Even better, maybe you can ask your husband if you can speak with his friend.
The freedom I feel from being able to not drink AND to not obsess over it....at least not often, is truly a miracle. I have been going to AA now for the two months, almost daily, and actually doing all the things suggested to me there...IT WORKS!!
PM me if you want...and if you want to talk I would be happy to send you my number as well.
Love

Great news Bella!
Please, do tell your husband that moving the bottles to the shed will not keep you from drinking them! Non-drinkers really DON'T know.. and how could they?
I wish you heaps of luck and success!Okay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?

Well, I hope you respond to the posts that have been written in your support.
I am glad that your husband is trying to understand what you are going through. You tell us over and over again that he doesn't care; but it is obvious he does.
Don't let the beast get you again. Try to find some strength to get some help. I hope you draw strength from him.
I just pray for your kids sake! Hang in there.

Hey Bella,
Great to hear your husband is being so supportive of you.
Make the most of this situation. Meet his friend, throw yourself into this.
Tell your husband now how severe your drinking was. If you don't tell him about the sneaking, you leave that door open to walk through in future.
Wishing you and your kids well.Amelia

Sober for a change!!
Thanks for all your supportive responses to my post. X
Blow up the shed...I laughed at that Peacenik...
I threw away the alcohol yesterday..bottles and bottles of the stuff...the stench going down the sink was enough to get me drunk...lol My hub thought id gone barmy when he saw the bottles outside the back door and I know he thought, "What a waste of all that drink"..but if I'd drunk it all...he'd be saying, "What a waste of all that life!" So, there we are.
I have nothing else to say now...I just have to read my book and keep focused.
Thankyou friends.

Sober for a change!!
Morning Bella. I loved reading your post this morning as it such a positive one and your subsequent actions with throwing that booze away only enhances that positive approach you seem to have.
I think you and I have both been on the merry go round for far too long now and nothing has been working for us has it? I can honestly hold my hand up and say I'm a lazy stoner who hasn't continued with his growth and the reason why I keep going full circle everytime. I am beginning to realise that if I remain stagnant with my personal growth and development I will DEFINETELY drink again; no 2 ways about it.
As you know I've just started attending N/A meetings as I feel I get more of the perspective of the addict rather than the alcoholic. It doesn't matter what my drug of choice is (mine being alcohol) I'm no different from the guy sharing about injecting heroin or smoking crack at the end of the day. It's the obsessive and addictive thinking that I share with all the people in the meetings that makes us all the same.
Anyway hon I'm so glad you too have finally woken up to yourself and your making positive steps as am I. Maybe ask your husband to ask his friend if he/she can take you to a few meetings. It can be very daunting walking into a meeting on your own for the first time. I phoned an old AA buddy of mine last week and he is taking me back under his wing too and taking me to my first meeting again tonight. I know I've been to the meetings in the past but it seems for me that much harder to go back and admit I am powerless over my addiction and I need help. So a little bit of moral support will help greatly with making me feel OK about going back. Do whatever it is you have to do Bella because for me personally I'm tired of fucking about with something that is a serious problem at the end of the day.
Keep me informed how your getting on hon and I'll speak to you very soon.
Love and Happiness as always

Bella
A good start Bella. I too saw myself in many of the stories in the book. Try yourself an AA meeting. It's comforting talking to people that are going thru the same thing you are. In my experience talking to someone that hasn't had an Al problem gets me nowhere. They just don't understand. You'll fortunate you have a husband who is intelligent enough to go to someone for help who has been down that road. Remember where there's a will there's a way. You can do it! Other people have. :goodluck: :thumbs:Starting over again
