    Amry Thread 1st Feb 2009

    Morning everyone.

I'm feeling a bit better today. Got work today which i'm not looking forward to but i'm sure it will help my mood, just being around other people. My sister is staying here with me tonight and we are going to cook a lovely dinner which i'm looking forward to.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

    Love

you go into edit, then advanced then there is an option to delete the thread...
Your life (and mine) is just gonna get better and better!

Yes, I am using the patches and the support woman at boots. When I went to see her on Friday, she gave me a pitying look and said"people who are hardcore smokers manage with just the patch" lol, so I'm not going to let this beat me any more...time to kick this to the curb!

You can do it Starts, i just know you can. I've used patches in the past and find they really help. They just make me feel a bit dizzy and sick when i first put them on, only last 5-10 mins.

            Morning all
My sister has been visiting with her 3 small kids for the past couple of weeks so I have not had time to post or even log on but I missed you all. I had forgetted how hard it is with little kids especially the bedtimes which dragged on for hours and were a bit of a nightmare. I hope my impatience didn’t show through as other than that we had a great time. My kids are back to school tomorrow so it’s back to the routine here even though summer is not over yet. Incidentally I got offered that job I went for a couple of weeks ago and I am starting next Monday. So my investment in the tweezers was worth it but now I will need a complete makeover. Hope you are all doing okay and Starts good luck with the nicotine withdrawal shouldn’t take long to get through it – buy lots of boiled sweets to suck on. Have a great day Wishy.

Did you use patches to give up the smokes?

                    Hi Starts
I havent been running for a couple of weeks as I hurt my back carrying the friggin baby that weighed about two ton! But will be back into it this week hopfully. Yep we need to get our arses into gear for the big day out in June!
No I didnt use the patches I used the champix. My main trigger for smoking was drinking so the champix took away the cravings for both ciggys and AL and that got me my first 30 days AF/NF and got the ball rolling. I came off the champix after 30 days as I thought I could go cold turkey by then. I had a couple of almost caves early on but somehow made it through. Its probably a good idea to keep the patches handy in case you feel like chewing. You can do it!

Sure it is definitely better than smoking so you only have the nicotine habit to break not the habit of smoking. I am sure that the nicotine habit is easier to break than the habit of smoking so you are half way there! Did you think about reducing gradually like a third of a stick of gum rather than a whole stick or whatever or are you going cold turkey.

                        Hey Wishy
Thanks. I cant believe I got it - they must not have noticed my hairy legs under the table. In the past I would have got trollied the night before with excitement and then be hungover and reeking of booze on the day of the interview - that is if I even made it!

A two ton babe? Interesting lol! Yes, I will do it this time 2009 is the year to rid myself of all addictions. I am going to wear the patches and at least I wont be oding on nicotine. I was chewing up to 30 a day!!! Far too many....
I know now, that I CAN give up stuff, I know it can be hard but I know how worth it it is to do it.
I hope your back is OK soon.

Oh yes, I have cut them in halves, quarters, but it is the act of chewing and the burning sensation of the gum that I have got addicted to. I just really need to stop it. I am no good at weaning off anything. I think the patches will be ok, cos I dont need to think about them all i need to do is slap on in the morning and rip off at night!
Also I have found I am not alone in my seedy addiction :H apparently 7% of people who give up with gum end up addicted to it!
