It is hard for me to believe that I got sober a year ago today. It has been (and sometimes remains) a tough fight but it is the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family. For me, it has all been about commitment, accountability, and honesty. I think when we get into trouble is when we start to lie to ourselves. As one of my really smart MWO friends said - it's the lie that leads to the excuse that leads to the drink.
I appreciate all the support I have received here and the friendships that have developed. I did try for years to get my act together but it never clicked until I logged on here. I found some like minded folks and I learned to ask for help when I needed it - and it made all the difference.
