Irish Eyes, it's a "community" thing. One person can significantly impair, or destroy, the atmosphere and cohesion and effectiveness of any community; especially, a support community. All communities have to have some sort of standards to protect themselves, from those who have no respect for other members, or for the community as a whole, and its goals and principles... The "who am I?" question is really not applicable, here. The community itself decides what its standards are, and designates trusted members or officials to enforce those standards...
I understand the "community" thing and also the sanctions that ought to be in place for unacceptable behaviour (what the community deems unacceptable) My post was simply directed at Kates statement which was 'I vote for a 3 Strikes your out rule.......3 strikes and the member is banned for 3 months to think about things' . I disagreed with it as I felt it was inappropriate and too harsh.

I don't think I ever managed to get out of the naughty corner .... oh oh .. oh well .... LOL.
Irish eyes, I understand where both you and WIP are coming from, I think it's because we have been having abusive posters for a while and it gets you down ... some recently have been downright dangerous too.
That's all.?We are one another's angels?

Irish, of course, I understand that you have a right to voice your opinion, I respect that. But, you have been here only for a short while, fortunately you have not been subjected to these drunken tyrades as many of us have. Why I ask, should a handful of abusers be able to go off in drunken rages and attack other member on a regular basis, without sanctions? Why should this community have to endure this abuse? I stand behind my three strike suggestion. Drunk or not, we are all held accountable in life......and yes, I do believe in certain guidelines and sanctions in any community.A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes~Cinderella

I support Kate's 3-strikes proposal. It's not like someone would get the boot without warning. Hopefully, after a couple warnings it would be a wake-up call to someone if they were seriously here for help with their drinking. We all have to deal with consequences for our behaviors, especially when they harm others.FINALLY -- I'm a non-drinker!!
