Iad, I think members of both parties are guilty of ridiculous stuff regarding tax stuff , etc. I think it sucks regarding Tom Daschle etc., but, what do we do?

As said on Saturday Night Live Weekend News about President Obama apologizing for "screwing up" -- (paraphrasing) "Is that his mistake? Does he know that the last president BROKE THE WORLD??"

              I know!!!

I think Obama truly does want to be honest and try to fix the mess we are in.

the last eight years have hurt us all--too many dead soldiers, unemployed parents, uninsured kids, cheaters and liars and thieves.

Sorry--had to go political soapbox for at least a minute!

Obama can try all he wants. read the lengthy economics article under the thread "yikes" in holistic healing if you want a thinking perspective (minus the partisan bickering) version of this. Our last president did not break the bank (although he spent a ton trying as the ship was already going down) , and our new pres can't fix it. certainly not by throwing money at it and expanding the size/scope of the Fed gov.

so what do we do? Just sit around and wait for our financial doom?

I am unsure about the stimulus package. But what exactly do the naysayers propose? Should we all just give up any thought of having a future?

we do what the gov is not smart enough to do...we stop all spending that is not necessary. Actually our gov does know better but they have the men with guns in power so while we watch, their special friends will be treated very well and our children and grandchildren encumbered with a pile of debt so high you can't see the top.
some markets always do well in crisis....it will be up to 'we the people' to adapt, improvise and overcome
                    as we always do.
