    Updated (post social drinking thread)

OK so I got to Day 8 AF, got invited out for a girls night out (night before the birthday party that has been planned for a while)

So I went to the first pub (bar) & sat on a Diet Coke there, next pub had 1 glass of sparkling, next pub had another Diet Coke with some dinner then 1 Mojito (cocktail with 1 shot of Barcadi which is a white rum). Over about 6 hours. Drove all the drunk people home.

Birthday party had 1.5 glass sparkling, Coke Zero, 2 mouthfuls of white wine with dinner, 2 mouthfuls red wine with cheese platter, half shot of cointreau in a jelly shot with dessert, then just water. Over about 6 hours. Drove home.

So I know that Fri night I had 2.5 standard drinks & Sat night I estimate I had 3.5 - 4 standard drinks. Didn't really feel like drinking last night, briefly thought that a wine might be nice but didn't have any so..... back to AF this week.

I'm really happy with the way my weekend panned out, I was a bit tired from the late nights but not hungover & I managed to do 2.5 hours of exercise over the 2 days, cooked 3 meals for the week ahead, did all my washing etc & took my kids to ballet/water park.

So there we are. I know that I need to be vigilant to stop AL creeping back into my life but if I can stick to the recommended 7 standard drinks per week (for women), I'll be very happy with that.

    :thanks: for listening

this is so encouraging for everyone - if one person can do it, then surely we all can.

Awesome post. And you had fun too didn't you? What I liked was all of the things you were able to accomplish because you didn't have the big old hangover.
I am modding fairly well and it's working for me. For me I try to apply it to a program like Weight
Watchers. You don't eat the whole pie but you can have a small slice. By not depriving yourself of that small slice you enjoy it more - maybe because of the fact that you can participate m-o-d-e-r-a-t-e-l-y.
Sadly, for some - moderation is not possible but good luck if you can and we're here for you to support that as well. If we weren't - we'd be an alcohol free board only.
Come visit us at the long term mod board weekly thread and get to know us better. Lots of good mod tales to tell there.

I will support you every step of the way ... you have your plan ... your own healthy plan ... and I admire you for that and you still enjoyed yourself without getting 'slightly drunk' ...

        Well done to you ...

Thank you so much for your messages of encouragement and support - it means a lot to me.

Yes, I did have fun! The most fun I've had in ages! and I didn't make a fool of myself

Eve, you're so right, I said that to my counsellor today, it's a bit like Weight Watchers - my next appointment with her is 8.30am Monday morning... knowing that means that I'm likely to watch myself over the weekend... a bit like having to front up to a weigh in first thing Monday morning!

I apply the moderate principle to my eating so why don't I apply the same thing to alcohol? A little bit now & then doesn't ruin all the hard work the rest of the week.

          Thanks again
