    special occasions

Hello all,was just wondering (and worrying) about special events...
Christmas..New year...Birthdays, anything else in that area. Just wanted to know if anyone has been through this yet and how they managed...
I have a very understanding family who have all said they wont drink infront of me..
I am unbelivably grateful but feel like i'm stopping both sides of the family having fun and dont want to be responcible for a sober new year for example...
I know i am very lucky....but i dont want everyone else to suffer because i cant handle my ale.
    LOOK AT IT THIS WAY.........
    IT CANT GET ANY WORSE.............

    Gratitude

Ah, how the guilt abounds in we alkies!! I think we imagine that they're going to feel as bad as WE would feel if someone asked US not to drink!! Is it possible Wayne that they really treasure your sobriety much more than their own drinks??? Your wife got through your anniversary just fine! I think your family is probably so thrilled with you right now that you should trust them to know their own minds and try not to worry about spoiling their fun. You actually might be helping to start whole new holiday traditions! Lots of normal families out there celebrate without booze, maybe your family will become one of them. WE'RE the ones who have a hard time imagining fun without alcohol!!!
If there are a few who can't handle it, they will probably manage to find a way to sneak in a drink or two. We used to manage, remember?? LOL!
    Hugs buddy!
