How are you doing today Zenny?
Are you any better as well Red?
We all seemed to feel pretty shite yesterday I think...

TG, drinking was a MAJOR contribution to my depression, its a depressant in itself. Have you anything to help you do this? A plan or tools?
I am willing to admit my plan is pretty rubbish, actually lol. Pretty much consists of only drinking if my fiance says I can (though he said I could have one today, and I haven't yet, which I'm quite proud of) and just getting advice from this forum. It's pretty much will power alone I'm working with.

Great to hear Zenny! I am SO impressed! Hugs right back atcha!

TG I think with a plan like that you are going to struggle hun...I would suggest you read the book to start. It sounds like you are planning to moderate your drinking rather than stop? Also, I really dont think it will work if it is on the say so of fiance...
So, number 1 - read book. Get yourself an idea of what tools you think will help you to achieve your goals. For example, will you try supplements? CDs? Support from here? Meds? Or some or all of these? there is a lot you need to cover to make this work for you I think. Also, white knuckling it is not really the best way to go...

ThatGirl....I started my issues with drinking in college...so good for you realizing the problem so soon and nipping it in the bud. Its not so easy after letting the problem grow for 20+ years into something that dominates your life like I did. I would say you are on the right track but strongly recommend downloading the MYO book and reading it cover to cover...it was what started me out right, with the right mind set.....it did take me a couple of months lurking over the posts before jumping in and I am by no stretch of the imagination a seasoned member....only AF 8 days but it is SO worth it. Listen to the Seniors....there are some on now and they really now what they are talking about..... Starts and Evie lou, along with others that may be on other threads.
Hi, zen, Starts, Evie....doing much better today....kinda gotten over the "bull" of this weekend...he is cute thou

I've been told by alot of people to read the book etc, my only issue with that is this: I live at home, my mother has no idea of the situation I'm in, if she did she would be extremely upset, and given the situation with other family members (which is the main reason for my recent heavy drinking) it would do more harm than good for me to risk hurting her.

And yes the plan is to moderate, as many of you know I'm only 18, obviously i was drinking underage to get where I am now, but I don't want to say catergorically no to alcohol at such a young age.

Nothing the past couple of days, before, however much beer I had in my house basically, plus anything else on offer - low point was two days straight drinking from waking up to going to bed over Christmas.

ThatGirl.....go to a trusted friends house and print MYO off, if you have a credit card, order it and have it sent to a friends house. Were there is a will, there is a way...and I agree with Starts......do it for yourself and find your way out.....btw...cy is another great senior!
