    A Poem

After reading prest4time's thread earlier this evening "Life Hurts, but is good!" I was reminded of this poem that was given to me only recently by a friend.

    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
    no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him/Her to be.
And whatever your labours and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
    keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920's
"Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children." Kahlil Gibran

Hippie, That has long been a favorite of mine, too. Did you know that you only have the last part of it? The first line is:

"Go placidly among the noise and the haste,
And remember what tpeace there may be in silence."

The poem is titled the Desiderata. If you google it, you'll find it. It's a wonderful poem.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.
