The Next Dat thread Tues 10 March

Morning all, well I already have a cake in the oven this morning (coconut & almond - yum) as I have a friend coming over this morning for a coffee. She's going to do my website for me - yay! - and I'm going to make her an outfit in return. Since I lost my job in December I thought I'd go back to my roots and do dressmaking from home - weddings is were the moneys at but I can make anything. I find it a much better creative outlet than production management which is where I was...I don't earn as much but I've got more time with the kids & I'm keeping it real...
Pan - I hope you're not drowning there.
SB - How are the preps going for the barbie?? Oh Congrats on 30 days...own thread on it's way.
I think mame will be a bit light on the ground this week - she busy.

Big smoochies to everyone and a special :l for TF.

Morning Angel!...I can smell that cake from here. mmmm! I pass a little house on my runs now and then. A light is always on, and a woman seems to be making clothes from home, at all sorts hours. I, as a creative sort of person, find this very inspiring. Anyway, off to save the universe, have a great day all!...Congrat's Betty on 30 days!? Hope you're gonna be ok up there Pan.....G.

Good morning Angel and G. Windy here. Supposed to get twice as windy later, but it's not bad. Fraser Island is getting battered tho. It seems the cyclcone is going to sit around until Sunday at least, bringing heavy rain and more wind. Still a Cat 4 at the moment.

Anyway, going off now to shower and then head to the beach to have a look at what's going on. Should be nice down there. The beach faces away from the winds.

      Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hey Mr G - yep, I've also taken up painting & gardening since being back at home & feel a lot more fulfilled.
Pan - The beach in this weather?? Oh well, do you have a garden?? I hope is survives the storm.
Now I wonder where that Betty & all the rest are??

          morning all.

Just got one off to school and about to take the other to creche while I go to the gym. Sometimes I think the only reason I exercise is to get a break from mister 4s continuous questions.

I hope that weather clears up Pan. I am a bit envious of the rain and wind though because I would love to see anything other than clear blue skies for a change. Maybe though I am still missing Ireland.

          Wishing everyone a great day.

            Hi Hi,

Am here, tail between my legs, got caught up in another thread this morning and upset people. Maybe its the full moon? Just popping in to say hello and thanks for all the good wishes, and then am off to have myself a little weep. Self inflicted . But I'll feel better afterwards.

              Hi everyone

Well done on 30 days Betty! I know how easy it can be to slip into the decadent ex-pat way of life sometimes (I'm assuming you're not Singaporean!)

Anyway, beautiful day here again. Got a gift of some lovely rose bushes so need to pot them up. Rags, I saw those finger limes for the first time yesterday in the supermarket!! I actually picked one up but wasn't sure what to do with them!! Will see if I can get a plant/tree? over here, though I am hopeless with limes and lemons too! Just Googled them; can't seem to get them in WA yet. Dayleys Fruit online have a whole load "in production" but don't know when they'll be ready. Very interesting fruit!

              Have a great day all

The beach was absolutely STUNNING! I drove from one end to the other taking photos and down to the marina as well. I don't know that the photos will be that good because I had to be really quick so the camera didn't get wet, but I really enjoyed myself. The tide was really up and we had surf. We never have surf.

Yep, Angel, I have a garden. Cyclone proof and drought proof.

The cyclone has moved further out to sea and the sun has just come out. It's still really windy and we have a severe weather warning in force, but maybe now I can hang the doggies bed clothes on the line without fear of them getting wet.

Looks like we will get our usual beach walk this arvo as well. It wasn't looking too good for a while.

Well, Betts, I had a look through your posts to see if I could find what you were talking about and couldn't. I don't believe you really upset anyone... Anyway, hope you're feeling better now.

Thanks Pan- am feeling much better now - and I think the whole thread has vanished Lol! Did u read yesterday that I'd been to Hervey Bay and Frazer? Loved them both.

Yes Blondie, the expat life can get a bit like 'la la land', but even here there are a lot of people coming down to earth with a bump. Lots of families 'sent back' with really short notice. It's funny reading how they're getting on without their full time maid, a big reality check! But it also means the maids are having to leave as well. Its just a big domino effect.

Am off to clear my bedroom floor so my lovely lovely cleaner can sweep it - told you I'm slovenly!

And Angel - the big catering event has been moved to Thursday. The guys who are here who work in China have been complaining that they miss meat pies - so we're thinking of having a retro 'pie and pea supper' instead - does anyone know what I mean?? We have a company that makes good pies here, so I'll just buy from them, might make some Cornish pasties, and will see what I can come up with for variations on peas. I'm also going to make a cake today, to celebrate my 30 days.

Oh Mushy peas and lots of vinegar!! Yum!
I loved the maid, except I felt guilty sitting there whilst she cleaned, so I usually went out!

Know the feeling. Tried a full time live in for 6 months. We ended up fighting over who was going to do the hoovering. She's now happily working for a family with small kids and lots for her to do.

The whole maid/helper thing can be a really difficult issue to get your head around, but you have to look at it from all viewpoints.

I'm a bundle of nervous energy today, excitement for 30 days and full moon combo I think. My friends are coming over from WA on Thurs (all pommies lol!), really looking forward to seeing them. xx
