How to ruin a reputation, a quick reliable method
You will do just great this year!
You are a great story teller. I love how you described how you felt hungover the both days. I had to laugh. Not to mention losing your shoes, barfing, and your too small slip slops. LMAO!
I am NOT laughing at you....... at all. But yes, your description of the events definitely got a chuckle out of me.
Go get them this year! Antabuse is a wonderful tool when you have to do something very important!

How to ruin a reputation, a quick reliable method
Oh Veritas..your post brought back a very vivid memory of my childhood..My family and I were at a very *high end* Braai hosted by my Dad's former employer BMW....My Mom (always the life and soul of the party after a bottle or so of Gin) sat on a motorbike to have her picture taken..anyway, long story short the bike fell over a crushed her ankle..she was so sozzled, she never felt a thing. My Dad was mortified..
You go to that Braai and you show them the *new you*..Have faith in yourself..YOU CAN DO IT.

OMG - that story was soooo me!!!!!! Oh, the stories I could tell, but are hidden in my embarrassed little head!!
I have vowed never, ever to do that kind of stuff again - which is why I don't drink too much in public anymore - it is way too embarrassing and humiliating, the things I get up too!!! My last meetings in Banff, I made plans for dinners with other "controlled" people and other activities (walks, hotsprings), and avoided the little local pub completely, knowing what can happen to me.
Take the Antabuse and enjoy your time there in control!!
Best wishes to you!!

Isn't it funny that when we're on a bender it feels like the most rational and sensible and well thought out thing in the world? The power of deception.
by the way IAD. don't know how realistic it is but The Wire one of my all time favourite shows. Watched all 5 series back to back (how sad) .AF since 19 January with a week's holiday last week. Today is AF day 1sigpic

I think we all have stories like that. Good for you and your antabuse. I got drunk dialed by a friend the other night who was saying the most innaproriate things. All I could think of is "that used to be me". I woke up the next morning thanking my lucky stars that I had another day sober. That will be you this time!!!!AF since 2/4/10
Nicotine free since 3/31/10

How to ruin a reputation, a quick reliable method
I have been away a bit, but I do want to share this with you.
Why?
Because it's a story of hope for everyone... and it's largely because of the support I received from this forum.
I arrived at the conference having taken my ante buse and determined to behave myself. By the time the conference started I had been AF for over 30 days.
As can be imagined, I was not allocated the task of welcoming guests.. in actual fact, my only task was to participate and behave.
I did experience a few cravings the first night. I was surrounded by many wine and beer drinking revellers who were doing what I had done so well the previous year. When I hugged everyone and went for a fairly early night... I thought :egad: is that what my breath smelt like last year..
The next day was very busy. I found that I was full of energy and able to apply myself 100% to the tasks at hand. I also found myself quite comfortable about taking a leadership position when the moment demanded it.
I also realised that I don't have to be drunk in order to be humerous.
The final night was the award ceremony. I am so used to messing up, that I did not even know what the awards and prizes were. I have completely forgotten what it feels like not to screw up:blush:
There were 6 awards. In my category I could qualify for three. The awards are voted for by your peers and voting is completely anonymous.
Much to my surprise, I was called up for the first award...
then my name was called out for the second award:thumbs:
and then my name was called out for the third award.
a far cry from last year
Last year I was unable to take a reasonable vacation due my bad, bad financial situation. One of the awards was a weeks holiday in a choice of top game ranches for a family of four..
and this happened for one reason and one reason alone...
I was sober.

WOW Veritas...I love that story and it brought tears to my eyes. What a night to day difference between last year and this year for the conference....and you are even reaping monetary benefits.
That vacation sounds superb!! Good for you on all fronts....keep up the great work! Krigs"People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. So give as much care to the end as to the beginning." Lao-Tzu
