when i'm 64
i keep thinking that when i'm older, i'm going to drink again...my alcoholic brain tells me "why not at that point". i know 64 isn't old, but you know what i mean. i want to live my life sober, but something keeps nagging the back of my mind that when i'm old, why not.

Peacnic,
I'm only 56. I don't think 64 is that old! Maybe when I'm 94 I'll think about it. LOLOL!!!AF since 7/26/2009

Red I've got something a little like that terminal illness but you still can't abuse your body. I have though for over three years since I got diagnosed and it just makes you hate yourself more. The body and the brain need the same good things I think!!!!
My drinking actually triggered off a stroke a couple of years back which is part of my condition. I was self destructive. I was in denial. I didn't care. I'm finally waking up to the fact that I need a bit more self love and keep things in check no matter what the future might hold for me. I feel more real now ....AF since 19 January with a week's holiday last week. Today is AF day 1sigpic

Joanna.....sorry to hear of your situation. I don't know how I would react if I was in the terminal position..........could possibly fight even harder. I don't think anyone knows until The Good Lord forbid....we are there. We as alki's always look for an excuse though........don't we?

I've made plans for when I'm old, I figure if I make it to 65/70 I've had a good run and fully well intend to start on the drugs, drink andddddd extreme sports! thats right, I want to sky dive when I'm 70, if the parachutes broken then oh well, I lived a good life, died in a better way than just old age. I also intend to dye my hair a million different colours and be a punk-rock granny. Ahh the things you can think when it's so far awayyy...The way I change the past is by not repeating it

TG....not sure I will be skydiving and dying my hair (ok, I already dye my hair but only because I am greying) but 65 is not that far from where I am so I am telling you that we push our mortality according to our age....the older you get, the younger others seem.
