I already have a Rutabaga (Swede) carrots, potato's, celery, onions cooking in canned chopped tomato's in the crock pot...Later I will and the cabbage.
Then put them all together about 1 hr. before we eat...Add horseradish and sour cream sauce and it's din din time..
      The house already smells great.
I forgot to say i thicken the sauce with ginger snaps.
      Hi Everyone!
Evie, Did you know my grandfather was born in Sweden and came over here as a young man? I am adopted but back then they matched up backgrounds with the parents- I am biologically 1/2 Swedish and 1/2 German. My hair is strawberry blonde to this day with NO grey at all. I know all about rutabagas and I love them. My grandmother used to make them mashed...
My hubby is all Irish so I should think about making your recipie sometime this week...maybe Tues! Kriggyface

Krigs, My great grands on 2 sides were born in Sweden. 1 in Stockholm and the other in Malmo. Swedish was spoken in my house till I was around 5 yrs. and then they stopped...I wish I could remember more of it. We were in Sweden last year and I could understand some of the words but got lost at a church service at the Emanuel Swedenborg memorial church. The whole sermon went over my head. Most young people speak English very well there. Many of my ancestors were Swedenborgian.
I was very blonde as a child but now I need alittle help to stay that way.....LOL

I'm not quite sure what is going on with my hair but I am 57 and still have the color I did at 15 yo. What a blessing indeed!!!
So sorry your brother is having trouble with his breathing! Did his GF come back to help out? Krigs

Good morning army. I'm going to stick husb. in the car pretty soon to go do the recycling and maybe take some pictures. We are having the most gorgeous spring.

Evie I'm cooking a corned beef today too. They are always on sale this time of year, I'm doing mine in the crockpot only with onion. The other veg I'll cook separate.

Hey Krigs what is your weather like today? Are you all done with those freak spring snowstorms?

Hi Keeta! Hi Greenie! Hi Oney! Hi Limers! Hi Cy! Hi Wishy! Hi Mario! Hi everyone I missed!

Hey there Zen, are you feeling sanguine today?

                            Hi again all,
Ditto on the housework, got more done when drinking, raced through it and getting the kids to bed so could sit down with my bottle (or should I say bottles) of vino as my reward.
Late reply to Evie & Zen - peat is turf and yes it makes a lovely fire. Dublin Zoo is on the cards Evie if you ever make it here - my brother got me a family membership but it didn't say it couldn't include the MWO family!.
Got nothing done today, we've all been in and out to look at this gobshite who has now put in steel posts for a fence in the entrance he has broken through, he said something about our new neighbours coming down to say hi to us all but so far no-one has shown up. We cannot find any planning applications for him anywhere or for his address so please god he is just chancing his arm. Gas thing is the whole estate has got together, some of whom hadn't been talking, so indirectly he has brought us all together!
Off out to shops to get a newspaper
                            xx
There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.

Well, something good has come out of the gobshites actions then....

Krigs, Emanuel Swedenborg was a 18th century Christian mystic and medium that had a personal relationship with angels and believed that we can each speak to GOD directly (no priest needed). At that time he may have been burned at the stake but the queen of Sweden (my ancestry)believed in his prophecy and respected his work. A whole new religion came from that which is called "the NEW CHURCH of Sweden" or Swedenborgism.....it is an amazing big world wide church still today...especially in the East. Buddhists love him. There are tons of books about his philosophy. I will bump the book thread for you.
