hi Iad,hopefully something different,i like you am 56 this year,not retired,off for health reasons,i to did the same,back in august of 08,after 10 months of sobriety,but like you,nothing new for us,yes,i use to feel guilty,shame,disconnected,not no more,AA,hospital stays, rehabs,but theres something that happened this time,i found here,people that understand,why we went back,very simple,answer,cause we can,Iad think about it,your at least here,and i beleive for the 1st time,your comfortable in your own body,little queezy,but comfortable,im not knocking other means,but this place is different,we no where Al can lead us,i could go on and on,like just stopping,or AA this is just another way of battling what is wrong with us,or me or I.welcome back freind hope it makes sense to you Gyco

How about starting your own Hallmark greeting card line ???? I would sure buy them. You come up with something great for every occasion.

Hang in there...I had 9 months and slipped in feb....and you know what...Im so sick of keeping up with how long Ive been AF Im vowing not to this time..There is too much guilt wrapped up in it for me. Im to the point I dont care if somone has 20 yrs....I just care that I have today.

Davenc......That's the way I felt. That's why I don't jump around saying how many days I have AF. I told everyone before how i felt about that. The only reason I brought it up this time was so that all here could see how easy it is to fall ! I said before.....I was AF for 5 years and then I fell. Shit Happens...you must be deligent ! IAD, I had 17 yrs. AF and it only took a few weeks of drinking to be back to being out of control...
Thank GOD that my kids grew up during those 17 yrs. AF...I am so grateful they were spared the worse of my drinking. I stopped when they were very young and didn't start until they were grown...
I pray your slip doesn't become a full blown relapses like mine did...IT WAS HELL TO GET SOBER AGAIN...We are all here for you PAL !!!

I have had 8 months, then 4.5 months, then 4 months....I hate the counting too!!!!! I feel like it is a accident just waiting to happen...it pressures me. I'm not drunk today and wasn't yesterday......YAY!

Once I stopped counting - I haven't cared much about even a thought of alcohol; or consuming it, that is.

I just live and enjoy now. Live like all of that stuff happened in another life/another time. The past is the past. It is gone. No need to create an obsession on top of an obsession. (Counting the days from your last drink). I do think it is great to have an anniversary date - but the day to day counting can drive you mad! For me anyway.

I love what you said davenc. 'Spot on' as our Irish friends would say.
