Starts ... i just wanted to say how proud i am of you for not giving into the cravings. You have done so well and overcome so much, so well done for not letting that go. Start taking your supps again and hopefully they will help. A good spring clean will also help take your mind off things.

I'm here if you need me hun x x

Hi Starts, well it looks like you overcame another hurdle with your usual style & grace.
This has really helped me as for some reason I haven't been taking L-glut...but I will be from now on.
              Thanks again friend.

                    Cravings returning

Hi Starting. Glad to hear that the supplements helped. I too have to be vigilent as AL makes his appearances from time to time.

One thing I have realized only recently is how little time of sobriety 9 or 10 months really is. Here at MWO it sometimes feels like a lot - I guess because there aren't a lot of long time (2 years sober, 3 years sober, etc.) active posters. Knowing that people with 20 years sobriety still have urges sometimes was SCARY knowledge at first. Then I realized that "being in the company of others" who share this problem - whether that's on-line or in person - is so very helpful.

Since I know I will probably have to face urges for a very long time to come, I hope I can use them as reminders of why I appreciate my sobriety rather than being afraid of them - aka worried I will drink.

Have a good rest of the day and I'm glad the urge finally passed for you.

                    DG

realy if you think about it .. the craving really never leave it always there..

but its in the way you want to handle that craving ..
everywhere you go .. its always there in one form or another ..

and just knowing what you what in life can make the defereance
:beach: life does change as long as you are willing to change yourself ..
best thing about the future it comes one day at a time..

Thanks DG, you are right, we have only been sober a short time really.
The funny thing was, I knew I wouldnt drink, but I was just miserable wanting to. I wanted that feeling to go away...

Thanks Mr T, yes, I am learning now that it is never too far away...but also that it wont stay forever...that gives me strength..

                          Cravings returning

Starts, I too thought the sea air might have brought on your cravings. I guess it is just going to happen occasionally. You are strong and won't give in. I do find when I get a craving that a piece of chocolate helps. I don't even like chocolate normally.

Personally, I find the nicotine gets me more often than the craving for a drink. It is going to take time. If you find the supps are helping then keep them up, but do you really want to rely on them forever? I don't take any supps and the cravings do go. Annoying while they are niggling at me, but they do go, as you know.

Thanks for all your advice to me. You've been there from the beginning.

                            Cravings returning

                            Starty,

I have been around a bunch today, and have only now just come across this post. I am sorry I wasn't around when you needed support. You have always been here for me.
I am sure you are passed the worst of your cravings, and your later posts kind of said you were feeling a lot better. I am glad you made it through, my friend.:l:h You are such a star!

You took the L-GLut and the Kudzu. Good job using ALL your tools, even if you needed to be reminded a bit. We all do...especially as time passes. I think once the worst is over, we get lazy. In the beginning, every minute of every day we were focused on staying sober, and AF. I know for myself, I can and DO focus on other things in my life now. That is how it should be. The thing your post helped me realize today, is that just because I am not suffering and fighting daily now to stay AF, it doesn't mean I can allow myself to beome *unprepared for battle*.

Again, I am so glad you came here for support, and caring advise. I am glad you still had your suppliments on hand and they helped you. (the how or why they helped doesn't matter...real or in your mind...as long as they work. I LOVE my L-Glut )

I am so proud of you Starty.:goodjob:
You have worked incredibly hard to remain AF, to rid yourself of smoking then nicotine, AND painkillers.
On top of it all, you are here, every day supporting others. Keeping morale high, giving caring, helpful advise, and not afraid to ask for help when you needed it.

                            Way to go Starty.

                            Much love,
                            K
