I didn't get the job

I got a letter today saying that another candidate has been selected for a job that I have spent the better part of the last 2 years gunning for. I am actually doing this job now, part-time, but this would be full-time. I know I am better qualified (education, experience) than the guy they picked. I don't know whether to cry, scream, crawl into bed or punch the wall. I have not been doing well lately either with regard to AL, and now I am having strange throbs in my lower abdomen. I am home from work today because my 2 year old has had pink eye; I spent the last 2 hours trying to get him lunched and napped, and my not being at work puts extra strain on my boss (hubby has stayed home the last 3 times baby was sick, so today was my turn).

Sorry to vent, but I am just upset and having a bad day.

CSO4, its okay!!! Your turn is coming for employ.. Spring is here and that means a turn-around for jobs!! People are preggers, need to be removed, or just tired of working!!! Its coming to you soon, i can feel it. Just don't go to Dunkin Donuts, unless you really are going crazy. Dear CS04,

I can only imagine how disappointed you feel. I am not sure if anything can make you feel better about the job. But it sounds as if it is their loss. Maybe time will show they picked the wrong candidate, stranger things have happened! I tend to find that when something bad happens, when you look back later you can see why it did. Ususally something else great arises out of it, which wouldnt have happened but for the other course of action (if you see what I mean)!

I hope you will look back on this day soon and see that you didnt get the job because there was something better for you.

I hope the baby is ok too.

So SORRY CS, that PURELY SUCKS .... BIG TIME !!! I KNOW It feels awful to put so much effort towards something that you want and have someone less qualified get the job. BUT .... I took a look in my "crystal ball" and i see something MUCH BETTER coming JUST AROUND THE CORNER...just keep you focus on what you DO WANT and soon it will be YOURS !!!!

Been their done that .........I was passed over so many times.Towards the end of my carear these idiots were giving everything....I got promoted so many times......when I just wanted to be left alone ! ha! CS, I'm sorry you are disappointed. It really does suck. But, you never know what may be just around the corner. I remember when I moved here from another state, 9 years ago... Prior to our move I had owned my own businesses for over 20 years. I decided to sell, for two reasons. Customers and employees - but that story is for another day. There was a job in the area that I wanted in the worse way. I did everything right. I followed up, send my thank you note, etc. Hub would come home every night, and if he asked, I would puddle up in tears. Well, I didn't get it. What is funny is that I got another position, close by, that pays approximately 3+ times what the original job would have paid. So, we never know... Reminds me of that country song "I thank God, for unanswered prayers" Chin up, this is just a ripple in the pond of life. Give the baby a hug from me.

That's a real bummer. But as others have said, something as good or better may well crop up.
I guess you could look on that as a trial application for the REALLY GOOD job that's just round the corner.
