    Ever get a red spot on the white of your eye?

    Ever get a red spot on the white of your eye after drinking? I'm pretty sure that is the cause of this spot. It looks like somebody poked me. If it's ever happened to you, might you know how this would be caused?

    I read on the internet that it might be because of high blood pressure, or poor conversion, and therefore accumulation of acetaldehyde, much like the mechanism responsible for a flushed face after heavy drinking.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi, Re! I happen to have a totally red eye today, but it's because of pollen and allergies. I don't think I ever had the spots because of drinking, but DID from throwing up from drinking! Welcome!

      Yes, broken blood vessels...can happen from drinking I've been told. I had a friend when I was young who's mom always knew she had been drinking the night before because of the broken blood vessels in her eyes.

        I'm puzzled because it has been happening frequently lately with even small amounts of AL, yet has hardly ever happened before, as I recall. It is a very distinct set of capillaries on the whites near my nose on both sides. Looks horrible

        I guess it's a little consoling that you knew a young person who it happened to. I feel like I'm starting to fall apart over here.

            I have had that too...happened while vomiting like mad after being pie eyed.....also...the capillaries on the side of your nose....probably drinking related too...sorry...just being honest!

              I've seen a red dot on an Indian woman's fore head..........( I thought it was their for lazer tag....I know I'll go to my room ! ha! IAD )

                Subconjunctival hemorrhage...

                Most subconjunctival hemorrhages are spontaneous without an obvious cause for this bleeding from the conjunctival vessels. Often, a person may discover a subconjunctival hemorrhage on awakening and looking in the mirror. Most spontaneous subconjunctival hemorrhages are first noticed by another person seeing a red spot on your eye.

                  Hiya Rej, I used to get that occassionally after a particularly gruelling session. I was only 23 at the time. This was always a good indication to me that I was really going a touch to far. I suggest seeing an iridologist, its fascinating what they can tell about your health from your eyes.

                    yeah, i read an article about some research that indicates that a lot of information about your overall health can be gleaned just from the appearance of your eyes.

                    I can't wait until mine are gleaming with sunshine!

                      Supposedly the red lines location correspond to organs as does the iris donfigurations.

                        Mmm, thought I would add my "eye" story. Also, where else can I confess to something stupid, hate myself, and then laugh about it and look ahead? But here?
                        I went to bed quite loaded last week end. Had downed many potato chips to help soak up alchohol. Forgot to take out my contacts and fell asleep. Then dug at my eyes half the night in a stupor trying to remove contacts that were never found. Ended up in the E.R. with scratched up, infected corneas. Have just removed warm compresses, have meds, and have missed work.
                        Thought I learned this lesson! I hate this about myself
                        Regarding your eye, what little I do know about it, I believe the red spots are quite temporary.
