      Looking for weight loss BUDDIES !!!

      Hi Sister,
      Losing 15# by the end of 2009 is a goal I adopted at the beginning of January. Diets don't work. I am currently reading Thin for Life. I have also learned a lot about better eating from the books Mindless Eating and Volumetrics. I keep a daily food diary, so I have a better awareness of my eating problems. Almost everything I eat is healthy. The snack I keep on hand is a mix of dried cranberries, almonds, walnuts and toasted soy nuts - all super foods. At a recent health screening at work, they said my numbers are perfect for cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure, so those extra few pounds don't lessen my good health. I still would like to lose the weight, I still am keeping the diary, but if I don't, then this is the weight God intends for me. Oh, and I get quite a bit of exercise: swimming twice weekly, walking a couple of miles per day at work, biking in warmer weather, and of course gardening. So EvieLou, I'm with you, but that's where I'm at.
      My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

        I have walnuts and raisin bran for snacks.....

        Honestly, Evie -that dip tastes so fresh once made. You should leave it in the fridge for a n hour or so... so the ingredients all meld together.

          Looking for weight loss BUDDIES !!!

          I adore Pilates. It's great for the abs. I hate bouncing around in aerobics classes, and I find most yoga a little too slow, and instead of relaxing me it gives me too much time to think. Pilates is very focused. The constant reminders of how to breathe, and how to work your body are wonderfully engrossing.           I'm liking the South Beach Diet. I've done Atkins, and Weight Watchers. I've never been more than 10 pounds over-weight, but I hate it when those 10 pounds are there. Right now I'm 6 pounds from my goal weight and losing about a pound a week, without hunger, on South Beach. It doesn't restrict how much you can eat, but limits what you can eat. That works for me. Saying no to alcohol is enough deprivation for me! If I want to eat, I'm going to eat! But on South Beach, it's yogurt, cheese, nuts, vegetables, or lean meats. No sugar...At least at first. And no refined flour.

          Anyway, I wish you luck, and I'd love to check in with some buddies on this path!

            I had a little "hiccup" in my NEW HEALTH resolve. I was gardening on Wed. and thought I had sprained my knee. It was swollen and my leg ached...it kept getting worse and to make a long story short, I ended up in the ER...it was a a poison spider bite..
            I AM A MESS ........but with the steroid injections (those buggers hurt) and a few days bed rest, I shall start once again. Please don't leave me alone on this...I want your support.

              Looking for weight loss BUDDIES !!!

              Oh, Evie! Just catching up on some posts while I'm not sleeping. LOL! OUCH! I HATE those spider bites. I had one on the back of my leg at the very top, right before my butt! Had to use a mirror to see it and it looked like a bullseye!!! I had injections and some type med that made me sleep for about 3 days (this was some time ago). Hope all is better soon. Also, those nasty stinging worms that are so beautiful but all you have to do is brush one and your on fire! Anyway, this weekend proved how out of shape I am, so I'm really making this a priority, along with getting a laptop.
